Aaron Young's game today made Thomas obsolete. Young is Thomas but with decent skills. I'd rate Banner ahead of him too. Hopefully the new coach will.

terrific isn't it

surjan, thomas, kane, dom, logan. can only afford 2 of these 5.
have to get time into jonas, young etc
i vote kane it better than them for 2013, abn to keep surjan
trade, delist, goodbye

Agree that we need tough blokes that can also impact the game - but we don't have any. It's easy to say we need this, and we need that. Logan and Thomas are not keeping out any tough and skilled players. So we have to make do with what we have. Obviously if we had Wilbur and co, we'd much prefer them over Thomas and Logan.

Until we have some sort of alternative, these two have to stay in the team to offer some physical strength and tough attack on the ball etc. Our other midfielders are quite small with the exception of Ebert.

Logan did a lot of good things yesterday, and didn't really make any big mistakes apart from conceeding a 50m penalty. He was far from the worst. There was a few moments where his courage and toughness made a huge impact on the contest and stopped Brisbane from moving it further forward or scoring.

Thomas had a nothing game, but I wouldn't be dropping him for that.

Their skills aren't as bad as they are made out to be - it's just they are prone to making 2-3 bad skill error's every game that stand out in people's minds.
And as things stand right now, both Logan and Thomas have better skills than McCarthy and Pfeiffer.
So in total we could have up to 6 'bad' skill errors from only two players - bad skill errors usually lead to turnovers, which usually lead to goals. Six goals from turnovers is equal to the average winning margin in AFL.

We can't have these guys in our team and we haven't included the one bad skill error for most of the rest of the team - with all of that added up, it doesn't make for many wins, does it? We must weed out those guys who continually make 2-3 bad skill errors - it's just not good enough.

I would argue Pfeiffer reads the play much better than Logan or Thomas, his skills and slow decision making really burn him.

pearce- i love him but if we get a good offer take it

Sorry, but with Pearce, if a club wants him bad enough then we don't have a position to barter from. He's a restricted free agent, he's also out of contract and GWS could take him.

Restricted free agent compo is not going to be as good as the expansion club comp so we wont be getting multiple high picks, and we wont be seeing clubs lining up to offer players or picks for him. At best you'd expect an end of first rounder, or perhaps a mid first rounder if GWS took him and offered him top dollar (this would be a good outcome for us if he was to leave as mid first rounder would end up giving us pick 7/8).

I understand this almost too much. I look like Andrew Mackie, so by default he's one of my favourite players cos I pretend it's me running around.
I'm now going to worry about why some players are defended by people here.

And wonder why Lonie was never a favourite of Portia since he's the been the biggest girl to ever play for the PAFC.

Wow! I always had you as stocky lad, possibly with a shaved head. Turns out you're a pretty boy!

If it was just one nothing game, sure. But he's only played 2 if I'm being harsh (Carlton and GWS), 4 if I'm being generous (North and St. Kilda) games this year that weren't nothing games.

Also, 9 disposals at 33% efficiency is a bit worse than a 'nothing' game.

actually it was 44%, and he was the worst by 1% to jackson Trengove at 45%

but I agree

thats why i scratch my head at these Votes

5 - Ebert
4 - Wingard
3 - Trengove
2 - Cornes
1 - Westhoff

3 - Wingard
2 - Trengove
1 - Jonas

and this

POTY
5. Bra.Ebert
4. Boak
3. Cornes
2. Schulz
1. Westhoff

Young Gun
3. Wingard
2. Broadbent
1. Young

Toots
3. Schulz
2. Bra.Ebert
1. Jonas

Mystery questions

How many more possessions than Thomas did Westhoff get on Saturday?
How many more possessions than Thomas did Trengove get on Saturday?

How many Marks were taken by Westhoff and Trengove- combined on Saturday- than Matt Thomas?

Which were the ONLY 2 players- aside from Mr half game Blee, not to take a SINGLE mark for the entire game

An ENTIRE game of AFL football

Cognitive Dissidence, blinkers, see what you want to see, take your pick

I think there is a reason we have won all of 7 games in 2 years, and its got little to do with the players who_aren't_playing at the moment either

would take

Would not take. You trade out guys who would be worth more to another club than they would be to you. Pearce is worth more to us than he would be to any other club because Primus turned us into a list of slow plodders.

lol, those plodders were always there. Hard to blame Primus, he was only here two years.

Trengove had a great defensive game. When Bobby was getting towelled by Browny because he sagged off him at every contest, we moved Trengove on to him and he only kicked one goal for the rest of the game - which was half as a result of luck from a quick kick and half because it still is Jonathan Brown. He was also crashing a lot of packs and getting the ball down to our crumbers. You can't look just at stats to get an idea of how good a player's game was. Trengove also had to play as a backup ruck, where he got 5 hitouts and he had 3 tackles for the day.

Westhoff got 14 hitouts and 9, yes NINE tackles. So in his role, he did admirably better than Thomas did in his role.

I was at the game and thought that about Trengove as well, I'm pretty sure JBrown kicked that second half goal on Carlile when JT was in the ruck. Carlile was towelled by JBrown and the only thing good from that matchup was when he came late in a marking contest and dropped JBrown.

Westhoff had a terrible game, I really don't think you should defend him. 2 goals or not, he had about 4 touches playing around the ground. Woeful.

Two goals, 9 touches, 14 hitouts and 9 tackles.

You should get a job in the PAFC coaches box. You live in the same fantasy world where what actually happens on the field has no relevance to your opinion as they do.

Almost right, you trade out guys that the incoming pick/player is worth more then the one traded out. Whether they are worth more or less to the club they go to is irrelevant (and why trade week fails as most clubs don't or won't get this). I think we should keep Pearce as we are slow plodders, and with Brad Ebert now here and Wingard looking to improve with some more muscle next year (if Falloon goes) he won't be target no. 1 or 2. If he does go whether he stars or fails at his new club doesn't retrospectively change what decision should have been made or what we should have thrown at him to stay.

My fantasy world is those on the field ignore those with jobs in the PAFC coaches box this week and see what happens when our players are just able to back themselves.

I tell you what, if the 'new'(?) regime can put 5 kilos on Justin and extract more of the good from his play, and so on and so forth.

I reckon it's why he's such a pariah, similar to how Leigh Brown used to be at North.
