Played a lot more down the middle tonight I thought , showed some long overdue ticker to get up in the rain . First 20min was terrific , the Ebert broke our run with that piss poor missed pass , and I thought oh no not again, but to the lads credit we didn't fold. Second quarter they went down the gutz , bang bang bang 4 quickies , but again we stedied. In the third we nailed em , I reckon we were playing the wet weather well , almost everybody throwing themselves at it , same in the last , they had a real crack but again led by our defence we gutzed it out. Highlights for me Chads goal near the boundry and Sarg's early it realy lifted the crowd and team and set the tone, Impey played well and so did Neadey I reckon , the opposition always look panicked when he gets it , Broadbent and Hombsch were outstanding and O'shea did well . We look better with Paddy and he was serviceable as was Boak and a few others , Wines was the pick of the bunch no doubt about it and Chad did his bit. Robby Gray well , if his kicking for goal were better he would have 2 Brownlow's by now , AS for Ebert well , i'll leave it some good stuff and some easy passes missed kicked or handballs astray , anyway I would loved to have the Krak out there tonight , put iceing on the cake.

That post match tribute for Phil Walsh goes to number 2 of great Port Adelaide moments in the AFL era for me, only behind Grand Final day 2004!.

Something that'll be with me forever.

Ladies and Gentlemen...

A few weeks ago, I put a post on Facebook stating that I would cut off all my hair if we lost to Brisbane. I followed through after much disgust from the missus.
Today, I put a comment up saying that I would resign from my job (I have 2 jobs though) if we could pull of a remarkable win against Collingwood. Boy-oh-boy, wowee, what a game... so yeah, I quit my job!

(Coincidentally, and thankfully, my other job has offered me full time hours!)

We've talked about this sort of thing before with key forwards, what with AFL skills, tactics and the speed of the game being a completely different kettle of fish, but the Power O'Shea who starred last night looked like the superhero twin of Magpies O'Shea.

Decisive, quick and composed as opposed to overwhelmed, slow and panicky. Chalk and cheese.

Yeah, he's All-Australian calibre when he plays like that. The Jekyll & Hyde nature of he and Jonas' years have been as big a blow to our fortunes as losing Polec and peak White.

Think that performance - where had that emotional focus and intent been all year - had bugger all to do with team selection and 99.99% to do with the emotional stimulus of recent tragic events. Great effort everyone.

I don't think O'Shea is an SANFL player. He deserved a spot in the AFL team. Clurey on the other hand...

Clurey had a few shaky moments but on the whole he did well last night

I don't know, maybe I was focusing too much on his mistakes all night but to me he was the worst of ours last night. I kinda liked Amon's game and a lot here don't so I guess we all see the game differently.

Hard to believe that the Cam O'Shea who played for the Power last night is the same bloke who got caught holding the ball 3 times in the same qtr against the eags at Alberton about 5 or 6 weeks ago, and he wasn't much better against the crow's magoos.

Keep in mind Clurey has only played a handful of games. He was great!

Love Cam and Clurey's game last night. Competition for spots breeds better performance and depth - look at how the Hawks can cover injuries so easily.

I just hope Cam can keep that level of play up and isn't tickling my balls and playing well post-bye (like you seem to do every season).
