Duggan turned it over a bunch too. Really luke-warm on Duggan lately, he's gone backwards on the composure front.

TBF Bunga has been good for a few clanger kicks a game the last couple of seasons too. He used to only do it in grand finals at one point in time.

Probably just consider the sheer volume of ball the backs are seeing and just how little of it is staying in our forward line for them to catch their breath. They would be feeling under attack for 120 minutes straight.

Rotham went from one of our brightest talents to a list plodder. Man I used to be so excited bout him and thought he’d be the next Shep or even Hurn. Partly his own fault but I genuinely worry about our development of young players.

One thing about Shep is you couldn't question his committent to a contest.

Rotham less so.

We hadn't been under attack for very long last night when Duggan spoiled McGovern from taking a mark, or when Witherden kicked a ball under no pressure that landed 5m in front of his target (again).

Our defence is putrid.

Witherdens kicking gets better the longer the distance. Agree with you that his dinky little chip kicks can cost us dearly.

What’s with all our HBF shitty kicking skills you have Witherden, Rotham and Foley constantly turning the ball over .. That is our main problem at the moment..

Let's not forget Gov's turnovers. However saying that, he's been doing it for years and i think we just expect 2-3 **** ups each game..

Even if he doesn't the umpire will make the howler of the decade and have him cost us one anyway!

+ With our percentage as low as it is, we are basically guaranteed a top 2 draft pick for next season. When did we last have one of those?
I'm really racking my brain to think when the last time was.

Is it just me or is Clark a lot quicker than I thought he was. Maybe it was the covid symptoms warping my reality but he seemed Petrucelle like when chasing a couple of times.
That is because he doesn’t zone off as much and is standing next to his opponent

Clarke looks okay but he's filler IMO.

very harsh call , have you considered it`s his 2nd game of AFL off the back of 1 WAFL game after a interrupted preseason getting shoulder surgery ..

He kicked a goal from ~50 and had ~50m gained. From memory a decent chunk of the 6 marks/kicks outside of the goal were short receives followed by a lateral short pass, which is what I remember of many of his touches, in which case I'd hope he should be running at 100% disposal efficiency.

100% agree with you he's certainly not our worst but with that said for a guy in his fifth year of AFL I think he's got to be showing he's got more to offer than he's currently bringing to the table or he's going to find himself forgotten and looked over. He's played almost half the games in each season since 2018 so perhaps whilst not having great continuity, he has certainly been given opportunities.

He's not going to be a KPF in the FF or CHF role so he needs to find his niche role which pretty much has to be the third tall forward. I think a fitter/stronger Waterman needs to be that additional marking option from the delivery off the HBF kick that provides us an outlet up the field so we're not having to bomb to Darling every time. He needs to be fitter/work harder to provide this option more throughout matches and I'd think more would look favourably on him.

I just think he needs a good coach directing this style of play and someone enforcing elite training standards on him and there's certainly a player there as he's a beautiful kick at goal, we just need those standards/that guidance enforced across the whole team at the moment.

I see Watermans best role as our version of Tom Lynch from the Crows.

Yes he would have to get a lot fitter, but works his arse off to be the outlet/link from defence to attack.

Ideally I think he would play that role and allow 2 key forwards ( say Allen & JD) to play closer to goal, or at least not have to do everything.

If we lose Darling then we are f’ed for the next 5 years. I know it's fashionable to give him shit, but KPF of his quality are super hard to find. We need him to play next year to let Allen settle into being the main man.

Without Darling, Allen is going to get smashed which will stunt his growth. We'll also have to wait 5 seasons for a sec9nd young KPF to develop (and hope he is actually good). This could be J Williams (though far too early to tell) or we'll have to prioritise a KPF this draft over a top mid.

Really need at least 2 or 3 solid seasons from Darling to see us through to the other side.
It may be fashionable but give him shit but Darling works harder then anyone in the team and gets smashed because the ball hardly comes deep enough for him to get it without going up the field and when he does, it is to his disadvantage. Nevertheless he still presents, chases and tackles more than any of them. Sure, his preseason was crap but he's working his arse off to help the team. I just don't get "fans" who do this.

JD was horrid his first few weeks (I know I got stuck in). However, seeing he is rounding into fitness his effort and work rate i dont believe can be questioned.

More often than not when the ball comes out of the backline he has 3 players on him, but is still working hard to make a contest.

Duggan, Rotham and Witherden are all good kicks but Duggan is still gaining confidence after returning from injury. He is also part of a team with zero confidence at the moment which means he is also under a lot of pressure. He will come good and there's every chance the others do once some system comes back into the side as players return and get match fitness back, We will still be crap for a while but I don't think it's all as bad as it seems at the moment. I've been critical of Foley as a backman but he looked much better when he had a run as a mid so that is encouraging too. Winder looks almost at home for a bloke with just a few games and if he can get a bit more urgency into his game he may develop well. Edwards was much better and Jones looked good when defending and giving a bit of run. Despite what others have said I think Cripps did OK as well.

Actually if you watch that again you'll see Duggan was in best postion to mark and had it covered but Gov had to work his opponent off and then drop back. Both with eyes on the ball and pretty hard to blame anybody there. Rather that than nobody going

JD is working much harder, Gov and Barra are going well down back. TK is finding some rhythm and Reddog is solid if unremarkable.

Our seniors that are on the park are definitely finding some fitness and it's making a big difference for them.

We stink but our work-rate on Sunday was not shameful and that is a huge step forward for the group.

We were doing so well too ..The Witherden kick to Gov gees horrid ..

The main thing with everybody is to accept that we are finishing at the bottom of the ladder.
Forget the criticism and look to the future.
Foley played his best game so far I think and looked like he belonged.I’d shaken my head over him so I was pleasantly surprise.looking forward he is now firmly on the plus side.
Jameson showed us enough in three games to show us that we have already unearthed a very handy big man.The club probably hadn’t budgeted on him putting his hand up this early.
Edwards is a monster but a very balanced monster.I feel the ruck stint last week freed him up a bit and gave him some confidence.
OAllen hopefully will make a full recovery.
Rioli and Ryan still have years to go.
Barass has years to go.
This years draft was very handy ( hopefully) for us.
Cresser looked good,Bazzo by all reports is the goods,Hough has done a bit already.Williams is young but looks very capable.
Yo;subject to fitness; has three or four years still in him.Ditto Kelly.
NN should have a couple of years in him as he hasn’t played a lot over the last five or six year.Jameson can learn from him and play a Jackson type 2nd ruck role.
I think Williams will fall back in the pecking order. With his marking ability surely he should be looked at as a key forward.JD is going on 30 so he is not the future.OA is to small to be playing on monsters like Andrews at the Lions. He plays more a Gunston role.Williams has the size and leap to play the role.
Bunga needs to retire, ditto Shuey, ditto JK.Cripps is now borderline.
Witherden,Waterman,Rotham are definitely not in the 22.
Petrol is on his last chance.
SPS looks handy depth.West and Clark will fight it out with SSP for that 3rd 4th 5th mid role.
What we dont want is getting all our old stars back dropping the kids and winning five out of the last seven games and finishing 12th or thirteenth.keep playing the kids; all of them; Let’s finish as low as possible.

Imagine if both B and J Williams come good and lead our forward line for 10 years. The commentator's minds would explode.
