Positive
We seem to have settled into a groove of trying enough to not lose by 100 points and have rolling crisis meetings
Negative
6 games left is going to feel like 60, hurry up

Gee

You know we're feeling pretty flaccid about the club when the autopsy thread is barely 3 pages long the next morning after a game.

What's there to dissect really. Gaff getting more of the footy? Yay. Kelly polarising fans? Wicked. Another injured youngster? Awesome.

This is where I'm at right now.

What's the point in spending time watching/analysing the same thing week after week? The coaching staff are pretty happy to accept the status quo from our experienced players and you can't really expect the young players to carry this team with individual efforts when there's zero support. the lack of effort will will crescendo week on week to an absolute shitshow where the board/coaches will beg the players for one week of proper effort and then we return to the status quo.

I think there's some young talent on our list but the club needs a serious refresh. There's a pretty decent road ahead of us but with what we're seeing there's a really big threat of the young talent we have being wasted right now.

You shouldn't have to come onto an AFL list as a young player in your first 1-2 years and see the complete lack of professionalism like our young players have. Our big hope is that a group like Culley and Ginbey who have push themselves so hard they drag a good young crew with them in setting standards over the off season and they quickly make alot of our seniors redundant.

The umpiring was shocking. The female umpire won't call anything and the Bald guy was giving away frees for brushing a player's hair.
The McIntosh and Grimes deliberate non-calls were some of the worst you’ll see.

Problem is when you’re 18th playing the graveyard Sunday twilight slot you’re always going to get C grade umpires (34, 37 and 41). The latter two have only begun officiating at AFL level this year.

I mean bloody Leigh Fisher was the senior umpire of the four. He’s pretty average.

Negative - The first half from both teams,
Positive - The Hough

Thats it for a forgetful Sunday arvo at the footy

After he almost put his knee through Chesser's throat (in a fair contest, without malice), still nobody came over to sit him down for lining up a young player.

The complete passiveness of our senior players is bordering on the bizarre.

We are the only side in any team sport I can recall that just lets the junior players get bullied without repercussion.

Positives

Cheeser played another full game and not injured. People need to lay off and let him get 35-50 games uninterrupted to make calls on his quality.

Hough.

Negatives.
Sheed calling for the ball when he shouldn't - tackled and turnover
Duggan clangers -turnover
Darling (500) amazing. now can we please move him on.
Gaff kicking the ball sky high on the boundary line over his head for umpteenth time and expecting a different result - turnover.
SPS turnovers
Hurn. Cooked

Still can't see a definitive game style that will hold up.

I didn’t notice Hough’s pace last year and I was impressed by how quick he is. Positive for Hough, but Unfortunately he seems to be the only player that will sprint hard for a defensive effort that he knows he probably won’t get to, but to still apply pressure. The amount of players we have that just think what’s the point in chasing is embarrassing.

There's a lack of creative and clean play out of clearances. We just seem to bomb the ball forward under pressure. Other teams can handball to a player in some space, but not West Coast.

Need to get Gold Coast’s stoppage coach - they’re the best in the biz at it

Of course Dusty gets off with just a fine. Surely that has to at least be Medium impact with a forceful elbow to the guts off the ball like that?

Intentional, medium, body = 1 week.
Intentional, low, body = fine.

Of course the star player from the big VFL club gets the MRO matrix in their favour.

Maybe we should let Witherden elbow Michael Christian in the guts with the force that he felt he received and then he can accurately say whether it was low impact or not.

And also remember that they probably share the bus to the airport and plane back to the centre of the football universe so need to appease their fellow Victorians.
