You could list the long line of young players that have improved this season and point out many individuals who have taken massive steps forward in their careers as league footballers.
Daniher as a super tall forward (the hardest position in footy to be actually good at) is the standout.
If he had of spudded it up big time this year we would have been absolutely annihilated every week.
Not even a Zerrett 40 touch blinder every week would've made us feel better.
But to me, that video Cooney posted yesterday in the hanger with the players says it all.
Have a look at them all! Happy hardworking bombers joking around and getting on with it.
It's supposed to be the worst season in this clubs long history and everyone should be limping to the line with despair and hopeless looks on their faces.
But it's the opposite of that innit?
The biggest positive of this season I think is the upbeat and positive tone shown by the entire squad and the way they have embraced Worsfold as their leader.
Way back in February when the shit hit the fan, most of us thought the remaining players were headed for the gutter in psychological terms.
Yeah sure they were 'united' and would push on through the season regardless of the devastating suspensions...but I'm sure there were many of us who thought the players would just give up by round 10 and plod through the 2nd half of the year while getting smashed on the field.
Sure we got some beltings and not every game was good to watch. But look at the insane effort these boys of ours are still putting in on the field with only a few matches left.
The Cooney video shows nothing but happy faces. Happy players means a positive club. I think it's got a lot to do with the coach and how he's managed to work around the defeats and keep everyone optimistic and keen to keep working hard.
The announcements of Hooker, Heppell and co coming back mean something is going on that's creating a massive buzz around the playing group.
And I think Woosha has played a big part in driving that.
From his experiences at WC where he had to deal with some huge issues that would've broken a lesser man, he's handled the pressure of leading this club brilliantly and here we are playing with half a team and still going strong. Strong enough to win a game with 4 qrts of never say die effort.
So where was I ? Oh yeah...Worsfold...without him I believe things would've been much different this year. We're on a winner with him. He's the right fit for Essendon and player's faces tell us so.
