We are already up to the bye and there has been so many positive things happen to this club, We have had a rough last few years but the future is looking bright and there are so many things to take out of this year. Here are some of my positives from the year so far!

1. WE WON A GAME! - So many experts and opposition supporters expected us to get slaughtered this year and predicted we wont win a single game but it only took our second game to prove all the doubters wrong! It was such a special win with our future stars leading the way including Daniher dominating the forwardline and another young player we have all come to love and his name is......

2. Darcy Parish! - Wow what a debut year he has had so far! He already plays like a 100 game player and isn't afraid to get in and have a go. He has shown class, composure, tenacity and isn't afraid of a little tussle. Should go close to winning this years rising star and hopefully keep improving like this next bloke.

3. Zach Merrett - Gotta love how this kid goes about it he has only just played 50 games and already can stake a claim as our best player and perhaps in the top 50 players in the competition. Averaging 28 disposals and still a tackling machine just a player that never gives up and we couldn't be happier with his improvement.

4. 6 Down 6 To Go - Love these guys who bleed red and black. Heppel, Hooker, Hocking, Myers, Colyer and Bellchambers are all back in for next year and just goes to show how great our club is that these guys want to stick with us after all that has happened.

5. David Zaharakis - Zaka is back in form and just at the right time. He has had to do it all on his own this year without and bugger bodies for support and has led from the front proving a lot of his doubters wrong. Hopefully next year he continues his great form because at his best he is super important for our future success.

6. James Kelly, Matt Dea - These top up guys have shown that they still have a lot to offer at AFL level and have been a welcome addition for us this year and whether they come back next year or not is irrelevant we will consider them true bomber players.

7. Matthew Leunberger - This guy has been fantastic for us his body is holding up and his work around the ground has been above expectations. With another pre-season and good midfielders to return our midfield should look a lot better next year with this guy in full flight.

8. Orazio Fantasia - Forward? Back? Wing? It doesn't matter for this guy he can play anywhere and give us something. Showed plenty of promise on the wing earlier in the year and has given our forwardline a spark since then. Excited to see how he turns out he is still young and can only get better!

9. Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti - How good is this guy? I don't think anyone expected how well he would play for us this year. His class, speed and decision making has been phenomenal and has really given our backline a touch of class. He is so exciting but what he does without the footy is just as good, awesome tackles and bumps he just wants to get involved.

10. Supporters! - Our supporters have stuck with this club through all the s**t and have been so supportive this year. The applauding after the North Melbourne loss really showed how much we still care for these blokes and everyone here on Bigfooty are finding positives out of even the biggest loses. We knew what to expect this year but we didn't expect how competitive and exciting we could become.

Things are looking bright next year its time for the bombers to fly up again!

Any positives you guys have leave them here!

Brown too.
I have a lot of optimism about brown with another pre season and bulking up a bit. The final piece of the jigsaw puzzle for Brown was the BF thread on here that identified the need for specialised hand strengthening exercises. That will be key.

He'll take stickiness to another level in 2017.

  • The performance of some top-ups and new players - Dea, Hartley, Kelly, Brown, Leuy & Parish
  • The form some others like Z.Merrett, Cooney, Zakka, & Fantasia also encouraging
  • Having first round picks and a huge hand to play with for the first time in a long time come the draft for 2017 bodes so well for the future
  • Being strong through adversity and most of the banned players have re-committing. Many other clubs would have been destroyed by this whole saga
Its onwards and upwards from here folks - enjoy the rest of this season it will be the last time you will be able to go to a game and just rock up and enjoy individual player development without having the burden of expectation of winning, and certainly the last time you'll see the Bombers on the bottom of the ladder for a long time

This is a personal positive for me.

My dad at 81 despite us being in for a poor year has been to every Melbourne game.

I know how upset he was over the whole ASAGA but his thoughts are that 'if I don't stand by them now I don't deserve to stand with them in the good times coming our way'
