Normally I'd start on the negatives. But really, so far there hasn't been many.

1: We won a wizzard cup match
2: We won another wizzard cup match
3: Jobe Watson got more than 2 handballs. Looks promising for a few starts this year.
4: McPhee. Been wrapped so far.
5: Kepler Bradley, wasn't to hot last night and was slow against Brennan, but he'll come good.
6: Winderlich, sensational. ****ed up a few times last night but recovered well. I thought he was one of our best.

Feel free to add more...

Agree on Winderlich and Watson. Both would have to be awfully close to best 22.

I feel sorry for Bradley, i think he came to us as a midfielder but because he looks like Fletch they are trying to make him play like Fletch. But it's only wiz cup, could do him some good, i just wish he'd stay on his feet some more.

I agree entirely with the above. Watson and Wunderlich especially.

I also thought that Matthew Allan has turned out to be a great recruiting coup for you

And one more player who will be something for you is Mark Alvey.

I think Essendon are a definite top four team this year. The Saints still have a way to go to be considered a definite top four team. We went all out last night and we earned our victory - but I don't think that means we are a shoe in for the real deal come round 2.

In some ways, I would rather be in the position that Essendon find themselves in now. Your whole focus for the next fortnight will be towards honing your team for the H&A season.

The Saints are on a high, and yeah I agree winning form is good form, but it is going to be a long season for us and motivation after the Wiz Cup can sometimes drop allowing a form slump.

Good Luck 2004 - hope to see you in the finals - and I'm sure if we meet there the game will be a cracker.

Winderlich looks bloody sensational. I was at the game last night with a couple of mates who don't support the Dons and both admitted that he was going to be a star. Can't wait to see him play again in the h & a.

Watson looked sharp. Bolton seemed all at sea, as did Kepler Bradley. Underlines the need for Sam Hunt to step up this year.

Ruckman take a notoriously long time to develop, Far longer than other players. Someone like Kepler Bradley won't be at his best for 6 or 7 years.

The problem with Bradley is what to do with him
He's certainly not a KPP (Key Position Player) trying to make him one seems to be a long road from Frustrationville.
He can play, but he's 197cms and has the weight of a 177 cm player.
As highlighted, ruckman take a long time to develop, but he just isn't a ruckman. The only thing that he says he should be is his height.
That does not include his willingness toward the physical side of ruckwork, the ability to know what's going on around him while watching the ball, and I'm sure there are other factors your garden variety ruck coach could add.
Hille doesn't have anything other than height, and his ruck work is lamentable.
Again, his around the ground play, particularly up forward is encouraging, however. But how many 198 cm on-ballers do we need?
