We couldn't possibly play that badly two weeks in a row so at least they didn't save that shit for the derby.

I thought he was comfortably. Truly terrible. Has been OK in recent weeks but this was bad enough to have a week's rest IMO.
I thought Ballantyne was close to worst, before he saved himself in the last quarter and a bit. Dawson wasn't far off either.

Just watched a replay, and have to agree with Balla bit - disagree with Dawson. Like most he had some bad moments, but he had some good moments too, he wasn't a disaster by any stretch.

We are really missing the real Balla - he was very good Rnd 1, got suspended for going just a bit too far, and he's come back looking like a meek and lost out there (for the most part). We desperately need the real Balla to stand up and give us the 4 quarter mongrel that makes him so valuable.

I got a heap of house work done.

Vacuumed, washing, windexing and started a stats assignment.

Also, shows our round 21 team wasn't that bad afterall.

Positive: We're not a Carlton fans and or stuck on their board at this minute. I imagine the meltdown going on right now. At least our embarrassing away loss was against a flag favourite and team that actually finished in the 8 last year:
"Drop Murphy!"
"Sacrifice Judd to Baal!"
"Blarrhag bllrarggh blh har rggh garrnnn!"

Yeah, I got my house work done and managed to take the fam on a picnic. I'm a much better person without football in my life.

Carlton got smacked by more points than we did (at home!), North choked against Port, (and i won my tip there!) Melbourne were flogged by 100 points, and the big grand final re-match was decided by a controversial fifty. Consequently, when watching all the melbourne based foxtel footy media this week, i can bury my head in the sand about how awful freo looked.
plus, i finally got some pruning done. though i may have been a little over-zealous - angry pruning. sad plants.

oh. and again, thank god i'm not a melbourne supporter!!!

We were ok ( not brilliant) for 3 of the 4 quarters. The Second half was good only losing it by 5 points. It was really only 1 quarter that we were really bad,the 2nd quarter. If we were close in that quarter ,we may have only lost by 20 points or so.

After I watched Crowley miss a getable, Pav miss from 20 out and Mayne kick through the goal posts for a touched point I thought I would give my family a break and now have the following positives:

got a hair cut, cleaned up the back yard and maintained a low blood pressure ready for a nice relaxing sat. night with friends.

Dear Santa Ross: I have some requests and questions which I would like addressed:

  • when you show Freo players that they are irreplacable, you will always get this sh*t after a few weeks. Do you think you may have to compromise your strategies when applying them with the Freo (lack of) passion? Perhaps dropping players (more than one) will have greater benefit than you are used to.

  • I think Sandi is colourblind. Have him tested by a professional.

  • If you only need two tall backs in MacPharlin and Dawson to take Buddy and Roughhead, why did you send Dawson forward. There's a guy called Silvagni who showed last year and 2010 that he can really help out, particularly with WC next weekend. I saw Cox and Nat kicked 7 goals on Sunday and Darling and Q were also hanging in the F50. Roberton is not the solution!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This lack of effort is Freo, it's in our DNA. We've never known anything else and it creeps in regardless. It is probably associated with lack of talent, poor recruiting, but on the weekend started from a failure of Freo forwards to convert easy goals making all the gut running efforts by the players behind meaningless leading to deflation of said same players.

  • Plus we seem to struggle around the ground to mark the ball. Not sure why? Do you think it is because our kicks bar some players always disappear off the top of my screen for seconds at a time to then return and be punched away by opponents in a two on one plus a rover that the Hawks had set up along the boundaries? Yet watching Hawks or WC I note the ball is nearly always visible.

  • And why does a guy 7 foot tall drop so many marks?

  • How come we struggle to kick 10 goals against GC and yet Brisbane can wipe GWS off the map by nearly 100 points?

  • What if Freo's best clearance ball winner (Palmer type) has not yet played an AFL game e.g. Sutcliffe, Sheridan,?. How will we know if they can't prove themselves?

  • Why does Van Berlo play when he is probably the worst player on our list? Just because he is big and strong doesn't mean that he will assist us in any way towards beating an opponent.

  • Ballas is one of our only goal kicking options. Can he please be allowed to remain in the F50 and do his thing? Removing a finger from one hole in the dike and placing it in another still results in flooding, and no there is not a good kind of flooding. Oh, and Apuchar wants a red bike.
Thanks in advance and I'll leave some milk and cookies out if I'm asleep when you come by.

It's amazing as to what can be achieved when you stop yelling at the plastic black screen, get off your ass and put energy into something that will have an impact on your life in 20-30 minutes after the final siren :p

  • Why do we have to wait another 3 weeks to get Mora back? Is he seriously going to be worse than anyone else out there? I would rather he injured himself again playing for Freo than for Peel if he was to do it again.

I have decided that I think Pav is better in the midfield at the moment as the clearance winner. Can he please remain in this position until someone else stands up or we get Fyfe back? He'll retire in a couple of years so we may as well make the most of his time. Put Mora forward in his place. They're the same size.
Thanks in advance and I'll leave some milk and cookies out if I'm asleep when you come by.

Dear Santa,
Can I just disagree with the two bolded sections.

Time the midfield pulled their fingers out. Pav won't be there forever. Mora has just recently done a quad, don't rush him back.

Oh, one other thing positive - after a piss poor effort like that, there are plenty of spots up for the taking if anyone stands up in the WAFL...

Sonny Walters has done enough in the last few weeks to warrant a spot, he has more danger about him than our entire forward line at the moment.

My ex wife actually came over at half time and expected me to help her move some furniture onto a trailer for her. Any other year I would have flat out refused and made her wait till after the game. This time I was glad of the interruption and actually didn't care what was happening as I knew we were gone. Not a hope, being embarrassed again.

Those saying it's a positive we broke even for the last 2 quarters, the team that's 8 goals in front is quite happy to break even. Hawks put the cue in the rack early because we were beaten. They soaked it up but if we scored they went bang and scored at the other end then went back to rope a dope. They beat us by half time and then coasted. We didn't win anything.

And Big Animal the reason we are playing Van Berlo is because Ross appears to favour the least talented and flamboyant players on the list, presumably because they make the best cannon fodder and follow instructions.

Mum threw another slipper at the TV again.

Better if she threw the TV at the slipper.

I edited my letter to Santa for you and added in a request for a red bike. I've printed it out and will post it tonight.
