1. Our first win in Melbourne without Pav since he debuted a decade ago.
2. Our highest score in a quarter in Melbourne ever. We really put the foot down on the throat of a very good side and then smashed home the advantage. Ruthless and effective. So much for Rosscoe Pekoe coaching 'boring' footy.
3. Walters and Balla combine for a solid 8 goal haul. While we are more dangerous still with Pav in the team, good to know we have other options forward.
4. Sandi - huge, huge game, so glad to have him back. Is amazing below his knees, seems to be able to get in and under nearly as well as any of our inside mids
5. Fyfe - see above, what a star, having him and Sandi and Mundy all running into form at the same time really does make us such a different side.
6. Hilly - showed why most sides tag him hard every week. You leave him to run around at your peril.
7. The gutsiness of our wounded players, including Bradley, McPhee, Elvis and Crowley - we took hard hits and got up and kept coming. Great to see us run it out hard even though we had so many players with head knocks. Maybe improved their play??
8. Clarke - great mark, and really added some pace and mobility around the forward half.
9. MJ - what a turn around for MJ, has gone from being inconsistent, half arsed and poorly focused to consistent, reliable and keeps getting better. Who'd a thunkit?
10. Elvis - what an amazing, stellar season from him, deserves to get AA. Great to see him smash Petrie.
11. Mayne - hard chasing, ultra gut running repeat effort player, really was a spark for us today, set up so much with his never say die, get up and go again efforts.
12. Crowley - another great tagging effort, despite being illegally hammered by the Norf midfielders after quarter time.
13. Mundy - sensational game, really building to September, defensive pressure has improved exponentially. Sublime skill too.
14. Seppo and the cheer-squad - soooo loud and proud, easily the loudest I've heard you guys, Hope you like your birthday present from the boys, Seppo!!

Oh yeah - also - FINALS!! Woooh yeah baby!!

Soooo, whadda you lot got to add to that list after today's game?

You've covered most of it but I'll just say, as a group, our midfield. Sandi, Mundy, Barlow, Crowley, Fyfe, Hill, Mzungu, DeBoer and Pearce were all superb in the cliches today against what is a very hard in & under group. Don't underestimate how hard they went in to win the footy.
Barlow was supreme inside and Fyfe is a magician. Hill won some hard ball and actually laid a few decent tackles.
Mick Barlow is a ****ing gem.

We seem to have worked out when to kick and when the quick little handball is the best decision. Ball handling very secure today.

We played a very complete game. Strangled their outside run, used it relatively well when we had it, kept their tall forwards quiet and cut them out coming out of the defensive 50. Everyone contributed.

The great thing is that we have earnt our spot in the finals even though we were in the finals last night.
So good to beat an in form team in melbourne. GO Freo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Our midfield really dominated today and Sandilands was just superb. Just need to inject a bit more pace from stoppages and we are going to be a seriously good side.

From the 109 tram:

Sandi: monstered Goldstein (whom was talked up in the Melbourne papers today, with reason). Sandi is a weapon.

De Boer: fearless, consistent, kamikaze soldier. Same applies to Pearce and to a lesser extent, Mzungu

Fyfe, Hill, Mundy: class, awareness and damage -- and Barlow to a lesser extent.

Our defense: solidarity -- Politburo-style -- ruthless and organised. Kudos to acting capain McPharlin, a gem, who's fast securing himself in Freo folklore.

Melbourne based Freo supporters: we've been through too much sh@t that this win, and finals, is such a wonderful thing.

And finally, you guys: being a Freo supporter is like piloting a Blackhwak over Afghanistan. Enjoy the wins, back our boys, soak it up.

Can the people that were saying we're a better team without Sandilands/Keep Griffen in, please show their faces?

I was one, I was totally wrong. I did not think Sandi would have the desire and tenacity. He certainly showed those in bucketloads today. And his taps to advantage are improving so it is somewhat a function of how well the mid's are working and their attitude. Sandi totally dominated in his role.

Sandi when in form is far better than Griffin.

I have already posted on another thread saying how wrong i was, but it's one of those wrongs that feels so right!

Once again - We are a better team with Sandilands

If Sandi can do that on a regular basis Im happy to say I was wrong, if its a once off performance then forget it. Enough said, I bleed purple and believe in whats best for the team. I would be happy with watever works for the team and as I said in another thread if Sandi can take a monster mark like that in the forward line and kick a goal then well done.

I must say though Im very happy with the Ross Lyon factor, makes u wonder how the Saints didnt win one!

BRINGING GREAT EFFORT and backing up the derby 4 quarter ruthless effort.

Really impressed by the application by the players and their preparedness to adapt to which ever role Ross gives them (even mid game). Best coached side we have ever had. The chemistry is improving constantly along with the belief.

Positives have all been listed.. but the overriding thing about today was:

The players that donned the Fremantle jumper today would have known that with last nights result, a win was not absolutely essential for the ultimate goal of making the 8.. and yet they put in an effort and performance like that, and answered every challenge time and time again and stood up and outlasted the roos. IMO this is one of Fremantle's finest wins.. now thats not saying much ill admit, but 2 steps forward today.. Kudos to Ross and the players who have got on board :thumbsu:

Were Impressive with out Pav, But I hope Pavlich comeback next week and kick 4-6 goals and grab the Coleman. Tigers have Port and Riewoldt will have a good day.

Walters was Brilliant.

De Boers our Next Captain when Pav Retires.

Clancee Pearce was good. Defence was good despite giving away a couple of 50 m penalties.

that is all.

Who gets dropped to make way for Pavlich???

Kepler OUT??

Id like to see both Griffin and Sandi play v Melb, unless they go Clarke and Sandi
