If he was just depth they would only give him a one year contract.

2 years is a pretty standard offer for a non-secure best 22 player.

2 years is what we are offering Tom Lynch

Was our first offer, and at the time was about right.

Lynch's last month may have played himself into a position that 3 years is a fair deal.

We are offering a lot of players 2 years if you haven't noticed.

This may be down to a new list management procedure that gives the club a greater flexibility to manoeuvre around contract extensions, it may be due to the new TV deal coming into play soon and players looking to up their contracts, it may be due to the fact that we are balls deep in a whole heap of trade targets and are creating cap room for them all.

Who knows. But offering a very capable depth player 1 year deals is going to leave your club in a deep hole to dig itself out of...

Here's a low cost, left field trade idea…

How about we offer Enright a 'Pods deal'.

- He's been in great form
- We're a young squad overall aiming for a flag in the next 2 years, he won't ruin our age profile
- He would cost virtually nothing
- He's been touted as a future coach
- Jaensch may not come back into form and, in any case, Enright is far superior and more versatile
- Look at our defence right now…the only non-elite players are Hartigan (improving) and VB. In fact, VB's greatest asset is his toughness and 'leadership'. Enright has all that and much, much, much more!
- Of all the other medium size defenders he would keep out, none are likely top shelf or are out of favour atm.

Now of course this depends on other trades. If we have a great back flanker lined up who is younger then fantastic but just think about this line up:

Lever - Talia - Brown
Laird - Hartigan - Enright - Smith

Yeah, NO!!!!!!

I also love how on the back of a few big wins, all of a sudden we "don't need" Aish and that Scharenberg looks mediocre after a handful of games.

People just don't seme to understand that these players ooze class. There's a big difference between your typical athlete with no football brain, then your good footballers and then those players who just have that extra something. Even more so they are from SA too. Aish would have gone higher in the draft if teams were't worried about his go home factor and Shaz probably would have gone top 3 if he wasn't injured. Chances to bring in players of this quality rarely come along and yet people just want to sweep this under the rug.

Aish may not slot straight into our 22 just yet, but boy would he be a great direct replacement for Douglas in a few years. Scharenberg would also be a great replacement for a VB/Henderson.
Of course we need them.

Left field cheap options are definitely secondary options.

Why are you asking ? You've got everyone stitched up.
Well, its just a question. I thought Kerridge in his draft year was decent and thought he would have come on. Based on what I read here, from your people, it seems he's a bit more maligned than I thought. That got me to thinking perhaps I could ask as to why. The same reason I asked the question of the D's board about Toumpas….

The only thing that is stitched up is your aggravation level. I don't know of any player that is " stitched up" yet. The AFL rules are pretty clear about when it can happen. And that ain't now.

Go Catters

Change of scenery I reckon. Think he likes the club and the club likes him but he's just been on the outer for a few reasons. Riley Knight probably got his spot before he did and has been performing very well, so Kerridge has remained out.

IMO he'd be silly not to. I doubt the club will hold him against his will. Don't think we'll get a great deal for him (like we may have had we played him) but will accommodate his wishes. I'm sure though if he did want to stay, he would still have a spot on the list as he's by no means our worst player.

EDIT: This is not to say he's gone or I know anything, just my opinion.
If more than a couple of clubs like him we may get something, a savvy club should go for him

What do you guys think of Hurley from Essendon? I heard some things on the coonawarra grape vine that Hurley is out of Essendon. Whether breach of contract clause or trade, it doesn't matter. Gone. Thinks Adelaide are a reasonable shot next year even if they lose PD. Wants to play at a team with a chance. Hasn't nominated Adelaide officially but has a strong interest.

However, obviously on big coin and this is apparently why Lynch is getting shopped around. Out Lynch. In Hurley. Don't know what the Dons would want but maybe a couple of late firsts like you will have. Apparently Adelaide trying to keep wraps on it as the sensitivity of the situation (a.k.a. enticing a player break contract) and the fact it will make it harder to match for PD.

Good win by Crows imo
I'd keep lynch on less money over recruiting a guy with possible sanctions, we need to add to our side not unravel it

Hurley is one of the few i'd definitely look at.

Talia - Hurley - Lever as your three key backs, which is beginning to look like the base of one of the most offensive damaging KPD lines in AFL history and that's with the Talia handicap.

Scrap this then.

Like I said, I highly doubt Lynch was ever being "shopped around"

You don't just shop around someone who gives 110% for your club week in and week out and is putting in great performances too.

Bullshit again, letting your fertile imagination run wild as usual, Lynch was NEVER, EVER being shopped around, just normal argy, bargy between club and player manager to get a deal done...

And I'll call bullshit to YOUR Hurley "rumour" too!
