Dunn strings a few good games together whenever his contract is up. Once it is signed, he will be very average again for the next <contract length> years.

Something tells me he won't get away with that under Neeldy.

No chance, we will have one of Pederson or Martin.
Stef is so much better in the ruck than Pedersen: Him, Dawes and Mitch has me so excited.

Really? Wasn't long ago you were totally against the idea of 3 tall forwards. Either you changed your tune rather quickly or I'm missing the sarcasm in the excitement part.

Accepted the inevitable, my good man. I'm happy enough to step down when someone pitches a good argument - which is all too rare these days (stepping down, not a good argument!).

Nice work mate. I think we can create a few headaches down there with the 3 talls, with Martin/Jamar getting the third tall down back. They can take a mark and kick a goal, which takes some pressure off the other two. We still need to land Dawes first but it's a definite positive none the less.

I'm cool with it as long as Stef plays. If not Stef, than Fitz. I'm not too keen on Pedersen. He's undersized and we could use the pick on a kid.

I'm only speculating here, but would the recruitment of Pedersen mean someone like Sellar does not get another contract? I'm only throwing it out there as he is one guy who we are yet to sign up for 2013. With all these talls possibly coming in something, you think, would have to give.

B Tynan Frawley Garland
HB Watts McDonald Tapscott
C Ray* Sylvia Trengove
HF Bail Clark Howe
F Pedersen* Dawes* Byrnes
R Jamar Jones Grimes
IN Blease Wines* Viney
SUB Dunn
EM Strauss McKenzie Sellar

It's way too early for this as there are still so many unknowns ... but I can't resist having a go. The thread is headed Round 1 Lineup so my team will be very different to what it would have been had the title been best 22. For example my best 22 would include Bartram but I doubt he will be ready to play by round 1 .. if he ever is. I also believe young draftees like Viney and hopefuly Wines will cement a place in the starting lineup by mid season, but will be on the fringe in round 1.

B: Rivers Frawley Garland
HB: Nicholson McDonald Watts
C: Grimes Sylvia Trengove
HF: Howe Clark Blease
F: Byrnes Dawes Davey
R: Jamar McKenzie Jones
Int: Martin Dunn Gysberts
Sub: Viney
Emerg: Wines Sellar Bail Morton

Plenty of assumptions including ...
We pick up Dawes, losing pick 20 and we use pick 4 to draft Oliver Wines.
Rivers to stay. If he goes I suspect we'll make a play for Jordan Russell who would slot into that spot perfectly.
If Rivers goes and we don't get Russell then Strauss get's the nod.
Ray to be overlooked. If we do get him I would put him in Nicholson's spot with Nicholson replacing Morton as an emergency.
Bartram not to be fit for round 1. If he is he gets Nicholson's spot.
Bate, Bennell and Cook to be traded or delisted.

This. Don't understand people who have kids like Wines and also Tynan and Taggert in their teams for Round 1 ahead of more mature bodies like McKenzie and Strauss (cough Vim Fuego cough).

Cough Cough lol :)

Neeld is bringing those types in precisely because they will be ready to go R1. I didn't mention Taggert i think you'll find..
I also guarantee you that if Wines (assuming we pick him) and Tynan do close to 100% of preseason they will WALK into our best 22. Disagree??

Haha yeah I only decided to tag you once I had typed Taggert. Anyway I agree that if they have great pre-seasons they are every chance to start Round 1, but that doesn't necessarily make them Best 22... It's just a matter of who is available to play at that time.

Perfect example is Tynan this year - played round 1 but was then out of the team pretty much all year for whatever reasons.

B Garland Frawley Nicholson

Do we really need a second ruckman? Clark and Dawes can take a few hitouts when the ball goes into the forward 50 and Seller, Dunn and Watts can take hitouts in the defensive 50, these guys just need to make a contest and let the rovers do their job. Jamar can do all centre bounces and stay inbetween the two 50 metre arcs.

I think it's a bit too early for predicting Round 1 teams, but hey, it's October, and it's all for a bit of fun. So why not.

B. Garland Frawley Nicholson
HB. Grimes McDonald Dunn
C. Watts Viney Wines
HF. Blease Dawes Tapscott
F. Howe Clark Sylvia
R. Jamar Jones Trengove

Int. Byrnes, Pederson, McKenzie
Sub: Morton

Assuming we get Pederson and Dawes in the trade period, lose Rivers to FA and snare Wines with pick 4 (apparently this is locked in)..

The team still looks a bit weak on paper, really need Trengove Tapscott Blease Watts and these other youngish players to have monster pre seasons on the track.

Ok, here's my team for Round One:

B: Garland Frawley Nicholson
HB: Grimes McDonald Dunn
C: Blease Sylvia Trengove
HF: Howe Dawes Byrnes
F: Watts Clark Davey
Foll: Jamar McKenzie Jones

Int: Martin, Tapscott, Viney, Gysberts

Clark redoes his foot injury, Jamar gets gigantism, Viney falls into a bottomless pit, Jones is stuck rescuing whitegoods from a burning house, Howe has a fatal skin infection from his recent tattoo, Dawes starts practicing as a lawyer, Frawley gets a job with spud on fox footy, Sylvia forgets the game is on.

Jordie McKenzie lines up in the ruck, full forward, full back, centre half-forward and subs off for himself at three quarter time to give a burst of fresh legs on both wings.
