-Malceski Is already out so get rid of him
-Toy might not get many games as he is one of the youngest in the backline at gc, id take someone else from there backline such as M.Coad or D.Stanley
-Bartel is always reliable but so is selwood so just depends on how you feel.
-Derickx got dropped from the nab challange so most likely wont be a starter in round one.
- Not sure about Ryan O'Keefe but could pay off

B: Goddard, Gibbs, Deledio, Grimes, H.Shaw, Otten, Heppell (toy, duigan, puopolo)
C: Swan, Boyd, Bartel, S.Burgoyne, Foley, Swallow (Prestia, Hibberd, Wallis)
R: Cox, Jolly (Smith, Derickx)
F: Chapman, Sylvia, Riewoldt, Higgins, Knights, Krakouer, Richardson (matera, i smith, z skinner)

Cheers for the feedback, not a fan myself of Ryan Okeefe but i can't find any other viable players around his price range, only rioli but since i have buddy i don't want two hawks in my forward line seeing it is also the weakest part of my team.

While i'm here.

- Backs are solid
- Centres are also solid, surprised you don't have Harris though. Libba is ahead of Wallis and looks like he could play round 1 after a good performance today
- Rucks are good, hopefully Smith can be that backup option for you
- Forward line is very risky Chapman injured at the moment, Sylvia injury risk, Higgins injury risk, knights injury risk. I'd suggest changing two of them.

Id get C.Sylvia instead of R.O'Keefe because he is due for a big breakout year, your forwards arent that weak its just that they are low priced, knights, krakeour are performing well and if richardson can keep up his 100+ scores his price will sky rocket

Damn you Mzungu! All joke aside, wish him the best in his recovery. Here is my updated team.

Backs: Goddard, Gibbs, Deledio, Grimes, Suban, Otten, Heppell, Toy, Duigan, Lower.

Mids: Swan, Boyd, Bartel, Burgoyne, Foley, Polec, Harris, Savage, Irons.

Rucks: Cox, Jolly, Smith, McCauley

Fwds: Franklin, Sylvia, Johnson, Higgins, Fyfe, Knights, Krakouer, Matera, Richardson, Darling.

$17,800 remaining.

The ones in bold may still be swapped around with other similar priced players, but other than that I'm pretty happy. Feedback appreciated.

Backs: B. Goddard, B. Gibbs, B. Delidio, G. Broughton, J. Grimes, A. Ottens, N. Duigan
(J. Toy, D. Stanley, M. Hibberd (E))

Mids: D. Swan, M. Boyd, J. Selwood, B. Stanton, A. Krakouer, D. Heppell
(D. Swallow, D. Harris, S. Atley (E))

Rucks: D. Cox, J. Fraser
(Z. Smith, B. McCauley)

Forwards: L. Franklin, C. Sylvia, N. Riewoldt, S. Higgins, M. Duncan, C. Knights, C. Richardson
(D. Prestia, B. Matera, I. Smith (E))

$21,500 left over at the moment. Plan is to hold onto it and see which rookie ruck gets named for round one and spend it on that, or I could downgrade Duncan to a rookie and upgrade Fraser to Sandilands.

So keeping that in mind I would love some further criticisms - what do you love/hate? Very pumped for my first season of DT!

Backs are strong and standard
Midfield is very strong
Going cheap on rucks
Not sold on Duncan
Solid all round

now for mine
Backs: Goddard, Enright, Deledio, Broughton, Adcock, Otten, Heppell (Toy, Duigan, Puopolo)
Mids: Swan, Montagna, Chapman, Gibbs, Swallow, Harris (Wallis, Atley, Hibberd)
Rucks:Sandilands, Cox (Smith, Derricx)
Forwards: Sylvia, Goodes, S.Johnson, N.Riewoldt, Knights, Petrie, Krakouer (Matera, Richardson, I.Smith)

Your forward criticisms are probably spot on, they were the guys I just brought in (chapman because i wanted a gun dual position mid/fwd, sylvia because he has alot of upside compared to other premium forwards )...switched back to my original lineup (except I had mzungu, hibberd and wallis on the bench in the mids before), do you think it is better or worse?

B: Goddard, Gibbs, Deledio, Grimes, H.Shaw, Otten, Heppell (toy, duigan, puopolo)
C: Swan, Boyd, Bartel, S.Burgoyne, Foley, Swallow (Prestia, Hibberd, Harris)
R: Cox, Jolly (Smith, Derickx)
F: franklin, goodes, s.johnson, riewoldt, Knights, Krakouer, Richardson (matera, i smith, z skinner)

Not sure how soon they will play - can't see smith going rd1 and I think it would be between cheney and pop for a place

2nd year player...thoughts appreciated

Backs: Goddard, Gibbs, Deledio, Broughton, Grimes, Otten, Heppel, (Toy, Duigan, Puopolo)

Mids: Swan, Boyd, J. Selwood, Conca, Mzungu, Altey, (Swallow, Harris, Hibberd)

Rucks: Sandilands, Cox, (Tippett, Z. Smith)

Forwards: Chapman, Franklin, Riewoldt, Pavlich, Rioli, Krakouer, Richardson, (Prestia, Matera, Darling)

Amazingly similar to my side...thats probably why i like it so much.

I've gone with:

Backs: Goddard, Gibbs, Deledio, Broughton, Grimes, Otten, Toy
(Duigan, Hibberd, Puopolo)

Mids: Swan, Boyd, Montagna, Heppel, Polec, Conca
(D. Swallow, Harris, Iles)

Rucks: Sandilands, Cox (Smith, Dericks)

Forwards: Franklin, Sylvia, Reiwoldt, Pavlich, Rioli, Krakeour, Richardson
(Prestia, Tapscott, Matera)

My toughest decision is: Do i choose Atley over Iles? I believe iles will score significantly higher throughout the season and has much better job security, however that gives me 3 GC players in the mids.
Atley is a big chance of getting some early games considering injuries at North...any thoughts?

Rookies are obviously a matter of waiting for the round 1 team sheets and adjusting. puopolo and smith are in there because of their potential in the long run. if they aren't named r1, i will switch them out for the best rookie amongst whoever is and keep them in mind for potential downgrades later on.

After playing around with it a bit today - found that filling out the squad feels much easier this year than last - definitely feeling the extra heaviness in the wallet.

BACKS:

Goddard, Gibbs, Deledio, Duffield, Adcock, Otten, Stanley (Duigan, Hibberd, Puopolo)

Pretty happy with the backs, although Broughton/Duffield/Grimes will likely be changed a million times before lockin. Adcock feels a bit unconfortable, but on the other hand, not sure I want 5 starting keepers in the back, nor do I want to start 2 rookies. Around that price been having trouble finding many options.

MIDS:

Swan, Montagna, Bartel, Foley, Heppel, Atley ( Swallow, Harris, I. Smith )

Not displeased, although not sure these are the right rookies. No doubt they' get shifted about aswell. Mzungu out is quite annoying too.

RUCK:

Cox, Sandilands ( Z.Smith, Bailey )

Like Cox this year, and keep changing my mind between Sandilands and a midpricer or some sort. Just feel like Sandi will be pretty far away from last year.

FORWARDS:

Franklin, Goodes, Reiwoldt, Rioli, Higgins, Dangerfield, Krakouer ( Matera, Richardson, Darling )

Chapman was in the team for ages, but then I chickened out. Rate Dangerfield to go bang this year, and am taking the gamble on higgins. Really like Franklin and Rioli this year but not sure if I can stomach 2 hawks forward. But the other options don't appeal too much.

Any comments appreciated.

You've used pretty good logic with all your picks so I'm sure you have considered all this, but...

Heppell last night played a shut down role in defense so he is possibly not someone you want starting - to avoid this Smith would need to play round 1 and by all reports I've seen may struggle to get a game from the start. Mzungu out has probably affected everyone so that last rookie pick will come down to round 1 teams.

Your defense is solid and who you pick out of duffield/broughton/grimes is neither here nor there. All of those players missing during multi-team bye rounds.

Your midfield is different to mine because I've gone with 4 keepers and left the tempting mid priced options. Foley is probably the best choice with perhaps Sloane a close second on NAB form.

Rucks speak for themselves. Forwards are fine except for the problem you are already aware of - Hawthorn, also in a multi-team bye round. Thats a good thing if you are playing for the league win, mind you...

Dangerfield is probably unique - I don't necessarily think he has a good DT game yet, but at some point will be excellent. If you pick it correctly as this year then well done.

Forgot to mention the fact that yeah, I am trying for a league win predominantly - so that hawthorn factor is even less so. As far as the rookies go - they're going to change around no doubt, and yeah, like everyone else, the team sheets will prompt some changes.

Good point with Heppel though - I'll be watching the media closely to see what's going to be a likely ongoing role for him. Probably makes the decision somewhat easier, because it lets me switch him out for Hibberd in the mids, and then find another GC backman that's likely to play 22. Not that I'm playing for the DP really, but Hibberd looked good enough on friday to earn a spot anyway (assuming he plays) , and it seems like the best link to have would be bench <-> gun anyway. (which I would have). Incidentally frees up some cash too, which is nice.

Had a late change of heart and I'm having a good feeling about Sylvia now - might see what options I have to bring him in.

so, can i tell, from a lack of responses, that I'm doing ok ( apart from Mzungu, hands up who has to swap him out now, get well soon Mzungu) :thumbsu:

here is my team at the present moment. rookies will change depending on the final team announcement but the basic structure is definite with the exception of injuries. feedback?

Heavy Guns and Rookies - Only problem I have now is with alot of JS issues/injuries to rookies. I'm not so confident with the ones that are left! I look at half those rookies and alarm bells ring. Coad, Toy, Smith, Wallis, Atley, Hibberd and Darling all get me abit nervous JS wise.

I've taken on a few midpricers now. I wanted to go Heavy Guns and Rookies. But the lack of scoring potential + JS + Nicely timed byes in players is really concerning me. Barley any rookies have good scoring potential, good JS and good byes. And we've lost 3 decent rookies that we have had in our teams for decent periods of time due to injury (Jacobs, Mzungu and Callinan).

Good team. The other one I forgot to mention was Skinner. I doubt he will play many games early on as he does lack fitness. Maybe one to look at down the track. Better make sure Hibberd plays round 1 with all those GC players
