Look Milky. I like your posts. I really do. But this is something I am passionate about. I saw interchange totally destroy another sport.
I am never malicious. I speak my mind.
I respect your opinion too.
Which sport for reference?

Clarke is a classic player with terrific athleticism but negligible footy skiils. He would get games in marathon ltd interchange.

Taylor is his opposite. Has ltd athleticism but good brain and skills. Low interchange would puff him out.

Which sport for reference?
Rugby League. It is a joke now. No one in Victoria could imagine the destruction. If you knew the beauty of the sport before. It had unique attributes. But I know one prominent poster on here would agree. Interchange and associated rules killed the sport as I know and turned it into something I do not recognize as the sport I grew up with. I think AFL HQ had someone smart there and changed the game last year.

I thought last year games had a lot less congestion. More one on one footy. I liked it more last year.

Anyway. I will argue anything. But always with a :)

Foxfooty.com.au senior reporter Tom Morris revealed on Monday that Hunter won’t play in Wednesday’s grand final rematch,"....

After Lachie Hunter was named in the team;
“Lachie Hunter knew he was out this time last night. Not only did he know he was out, teammates knew, other club staff knew Lachie Hunter was out of the 22,” Tom Morris said on Fox Sports News’ AFL Tonight on Tuesday.

“I’ve since had it confirmed this morning from other people that Lachie Hunter was out, as well.

“For whatever reason - and I must stress, this is absolutely up to Luke Beveridge, it’s his perogative to change his mind and name whatever team he sees fit - Hunter has come back into that squad. Clearly the circumstances have changed in the last 24 hours.

“It is a backflip, but I also wonder whether it’s a tactic; it was suggested to me by someone at the Western Bulldogs in the last few hours this was a tactic to actually give Lachie Hunter the kick up the backside he apparently needs.”

What a terrible person Beveridge must be changing his mind like that, allowing poor old Tom Morris to be misled.
Unless of course heaven forbid, Morris was wrong.

The second-hand embarrassment for Morris is real

Nice full wig he's wearing these days young Tom

Flow chart style
Lower interchange = players with better skills prioritized over better athletes = more one on one footy = better spectacle for fans

My belief on the changes that were made last year which DID result in better watchable games.

Athletes and runners are way more prioritized over skilled players with less athleticism. We even import players from other countries every year who haven't even played the sport before because they are gifted athletes.

Strictly one-on-one footy is dead and has been for a while. No coach in today's day and age is going into a game with no plans of zone defence or 7+ defenders ready to go at any time. If there is a long kick to a one-on-one in the forward line, more often than not someone on the defending team has messed up.

I fully agree with Milky that the interchange cap is rubbish and has shown a marked and almost linear decline in scoring and an increase in turnover rate since introduction.

You would rather have unlimited interchange? Interesting.

Scoring to me has less relevance than watchability. I would rather watch games that have way less congestion, more high marks and more kicking in general play. This happened last year and to me was way more enjoyable to watch.

The theory was that tired players would defend less. Of course tired players also attack less so maybe it cancels itself out. 666 works a bit, stand and deliver works a bit but coaches figure out how to defend against new rules.
If they REALLY want to increase scoring:
1) Reduce player numbers on field from 18 to 15.
2) 555 at centre bounce. Ruck plus 2 mids in the circle.
3) At least 2 forwards must remain inside the 50 at all times.
4) Increase the width of the goals.
5) Umps actually enforce disposal rules.
More free kicks -> more open game.
Umps may need to.wear helmets.
Reduces list sizes.
What's not to like?
Just make the goals wider. Or allow scoring at either end.

For some reason I'm not getting the game preview thread on my feed. I have had rustygate help but I'm still trying to work out the underlying issue. Anyone had this before?

Thanks for that swansProudly. I got the GameDay, just not the preview. And even though I don't comment often, I really enjoy reading all the info. Hopefully it's a one off and next week's preview comes up. Thanks again

By the way confirmation on what our game is called via the Swans themselves

Our games against the GWS Giants are still referred to as the Sydney Derby, however some years - like this one - we also play for a 'cup' that is presented at the end of the game. This year, for our two games against the Giants we will be playing for the Lifeline Cup.

As a reference, in previous years we have played for other 'cups' as part of the Sydney Derby (i.e. White Ribbon Cup).

What do the Western Sydney pop up club call it ?
