I feel disingenous asking this on the Swans board, but how do you feel about JPK vs Fyfe as players? Fyfe won 2 Brownlow's and seems much more revered, but looking at raw stats JPK averaged more disposals, tackles, clearances, and contested possessions (although it's close). I don't think JPK is as respected as much amongst AFL fans? At his peak he was as dominant as anyone.

I don't think Fyfe gets enough respect. I love JPK but Fyfe was a much more accomplished player.

Comparing the stats doesn't present the full picture. Fyfe regularly played as a forward but also had a lot more injuries than JPK.

They both don't being outside of the VIC bubble. In my opinion JPK is/was every bit as good as Fyfe.

I think Fyfe was a star.

I believe JPK may have a case as the most underrated player in the history of the league . He was consistently the best player in one of the best sides for almost a decade imo.

He didn't even get all the accolades at Sydney, firstly Goodes, then Buddy and then even Heeney etc .

But JPK just always shone in my opinion and unlike many others on the list stood up in big games.

Fyfe is great but JPK was better imo and yeah ok maybe that's one eyed

i pretty much agree ...
i think fyfe was more the natural footballer, more athletic than kennedy, i guess you'd say more naturally gifted
but kennedy was a genuine champion footballer and team player
where fyfe did the spectacular individual things arguably in a lesser team, kennedy was more about doing what he had to do to lift the team, make the players around him better
but what very much rings true is that he was ridiculously underrated away from the swans
in a way, i think that was behind him leaving hawthorn ... from one of the great families of "the family club", yet the club never saw enough in him early in his career in that great hawthorn era (geez, saying that makes me feel quite ill) to make more of an effort to keep him
one of the many unforgettable moments that i think sums up kennedy was that goal in the 2012 grand final ... jetta to jack to kennedy charging inside 50, you knew he was gonna kick the goal ... i even have to acknowledge mcavaney ... "it's a good man to have it now, you'd reckon ... it's kennedy"
absolute club champion
(also, just watching those highlights again ... geez, lewis jetta was a superstar on his day!)

end of 2009 at Hawthorn I reckon Kennedy was going ok too.

Many might disagree but in hindsight him being seen as the spare mid there was a bit of a joke.

I think Kennedy ended up better than all of them

They got stratton and suckling out of it, and three premierships. I'd be happy with their mistake

Would have won 6 with Kennedy there :p

Nah I get their end result was good

But I think Kennedy ended up better than Mitchell, Lewis, Sewell and Hodge personally

definitely better than mitchell and lewis
hodge was a different kind of player ... despised him because of his club but he was a great player
not sure i could argue he was better than kennedy though

JPK over Fyfe every day of the week.

Fyfe was a gun, but injury really prevented him from reaching his full potential over a sustained period, which is really saying something given he's a dual brownlow medallist.

But I wouldn't trade JPK for anyone, absolute gun.

34 & 3 against the bullflogs in 2016. And averaged 2 goals a game in his GF appearances.

I'm not sure who's the better player but JPK is the one I'd rather have. No way would I swap. JPK not the superstar but ultra consistent performing a super important role and then lifting to another level altogether in finals.
