Serong landed in our lap and we decided to turn Stephens into a draft bolter.

If you use the AA side as the yardstick, every pick 1 of the last decade is a bust, as none of them are there.

Personally, I don’t think Serong should be either. With no Mundy, I thought he was found out a bit this year. I thought Brayshaw had the better year.

But like Jewelsbon I also thought “Premi” was going to light it up!

I say it so often that I'm entering into old man yells at cloud territory. But if you removed stats, Fantasy scores and highlight packages from footy and focused purely on impact and performance in games, the AA side would look very different every year.

Stephens wasn't a bolter, that's just a myth repeated so many times that people think it's fact.

If we picked up Serong (which I wanted), we probably don't pick up Warner and may even have changed our priorities 2 years later when we picked up Sheldrick.

The AA side only exists to generate content for newspapers/articles.

In about 17 years time should Buddy's children decide to pick up AFL and go into the draft, they can nominate as a father-son/daughter to the Hawks or Swans

Hopefully GC folds by then, Hawthorn have become a rabble and are in the midst of a rebuild and we're building a premiership calibre team and have a spot for a spare tall with exceptional talent up forward.

Because Buddy will be living on the Gold Ciast and IF his kids Want to play AFL they will be in the GC academy area.

Not to put words in their mouth but I believe he said GC because they're relevant to conversation - they are not in the Giants recruiting area - if they moved down to Wagga Wagga then he probs would have said GWS.
