Re: Rizzo's Mock Draft

I like the Geelong selections for the later part of the draft here. Although you may have gone one to many defenders.

Interesting to see you have gone for a lot of VFL/SANFL players. Rose and Callinan are very interesting. Good read again.

Yeah thats a fair point. The hardest part was the one we take Mckenna with. I was tossing up between a few players there.
Especially Jackson Hall who i think the cats will look hard at.

Thanks mate, a lot of people post the same old young players. While all those VFL players wont be taken, there is some possibilities though. Just gives people a different view from the later picks in the draft.

Callinan's biggest problem is his age (24), however he is a really good player.

Patrick Rose is also decent, has a bit of Sj about him in some respects.

Re: Reg Hickey's Phantom Draft

He would benefit from another year in the system, he has so much more to learn. Another year in the TAC = 2nd round pick next year imho

Exactly, which is a good reason to get him now in an average draft with a junk pick. Pay next to nothing, and get him into our developmental system where he will learn much more than in the TAC.

I know that it rarely happens that way though, despite the high profile cases. To think we could have gotten Pavlich with our last pick in the '98 draft.

Exactly, it wont happen. I think the AFL sees the TAC as a better breeding ground then them playing VFL football. He will play against people his age and play for Vic Country. They also get to see him in draft camp as well. Just to many things he will miss out on if he is drafted.

Yeah, we might well take Bellchambers if he is still there at #34.

Yeh that would be a great pick, but he won't be there. Richmond will take him at 18. Unless they see Guy Richards as a viable option :D
