Re: Potential Trade Targets

Anyone suggesting Shoenmakers should be banned from this board. We have enough turnover kings.

Lets trade for Chance Bateman instead. He was just as woeful. He will fit right in with a few other final specialists we have.

Feel for the Hawks right now.

Re: Potential Trade Targets

Nope no Bateman either. Tonight showed you need good decision makers with good skills to win finals.

On tonight's game, it's hard to argue against what you've said. He made some appalling decisions which in hindsight might have cost the game.

His defences would be that it was a pressure cooked final played at frenetic pace, he's not quite 21,it was only his 35th AFL game, and he's probably playing out of his natural position.

Having said that he made some right royal stuff-ups.

Wasn't the first time though. He was equally as poor in the first final. Compare him to Reid.

Re: Potential Trade Targets

Look he might turn out okay, but given our disposal efficiency being poor and the low skill level in our team, we just can't recruit anyone who is suspect. We've lost two of our better decision makers in Davis and Gunston, with potentially Armstrong to follow.

It doesnt matter how good a coach Sando is, he needs players that can kick. The legacy of the Craig era where athletes ruled supreme.

Re: Potential Trade Targets

Well Armstrong wants out to Sydney too, another mummys boy.

Re: Potential Trade Targets

I'm not sure about mummys boy

just a guy who can't break into the team - good list clogger who will do alright in Sydney.

Noble denied that the move by 21-year-old Armstrong was about money.
"That hasn't been discussed, so that's not the issue at all," Noble said.
"It's more about family. Tony's mum and other family members are from New South Wales, so he has a strong connection there and it's a strong attraction for him.

Re: Potential Trade Targets

Our main priority with all these trades, I believe is to either get a O'Meara/Kennedy, and if we cant get that we need pick 4 (Wingard). If I were Adelaide, all the trades would involve picks to deal with GWS or GoldCoast.

IE.
Maric ----> Richmond''s 2nd Rounder (or compo pick back)
Gunston ---->First Rounder (eg 18 from North Melbourne)
Armstrong ---> Sydney's Second rounder

With Tippet (if traded) if GC are reluctant for straight swap of pick 4, we could trow in a pick we got for the others.

Or some kind of three way deal with Gold Coast and GWS, to get into the Mini-Draft.

Either way fringe players are not going to benefit this team, high draft picks is what we need!

Re: Potential Trade Targets

If Armstrong is truly moving for family, surely he could go to the Swans or GWS. Would the Giants be interested in him? Might help us get a look in in the mini draft.

well there you go.

maybe one of the guys should buy him a drink and give him his keys back...

Re: Potential Trade Targets

Damien Barrett just said on TFS dan conners is looking to pursue his career elsewhere. Got me thinking an exchange for Maric could be on the cards, particuarly with your half back line- Johncock is probably your only decent defensive rebounder down there and with doughty and reilly on the way out shortly as well as armstrong and tamblings inconsistent performances, conners could be a nice fit. he was excellent for us last year but had a year to forget with injury this year. so how about it Maric for Conners?
Our entire team is half backs.

Don't see the need, we need midfielders.

Actually, when you consider the other thread, our mids are pretty decent and should come on a bit in 2012. It's really hard, as far as I'm concerned to see where our real deficiencies are as we have 'reasonable' players in all positions.

Our biggest need is to replace our 4 deserters. Maric isn't a great loss, nor is Armstrong, as we have the players to fill their positions barring injury. It's Gunston and Davis that are the major concerns (although you could argue that Smack and 'Jenny' Talia will fill those gaps somewhat). At the trade table we need to identify a swingman that can play key position at either end and ensure the quality we get back is equal to what we lose.

Otherwise, if we're recruiting for depth we may as well wait until the draft (even if it is shallow).

Re: Brad Ebert for Adelaide?

He hates AFC. I honestly cannot see it happening. And quite frankly we've got enough standard paced mids with poor disposal efficiency.

Yeah, decent player, but I really don't think he brings terribly much to the table that we don't already have. We need more players with elite footskills.

Re: Brad Ebert for Adelaide?

No!

No dicking around with the Gunston trade.

Either work it to get pick 4 and Wingard......or deal with Hawthorn and get Shoenmakers.
