Potential training breach?

I haven't heard anything about Bassett though.

I mean they'll have to cut some serious fat from their panel, so it makes sense but if flick Voss first

I remain to be convinced this is where the cuts will come from. Gut feel is that the senior and line coaches will take decent pay cuts, but clubs will keep the quality at that level and reduce the quantity and salaries of peripheral staff. Of which there are probably bucketloads.

No surprise - the players are responsible for every bad thing at the AFC.

God forbid they expect their coach to actually be informed and competent.
To be fair, if senior players can't run a simple kicking drill while their coach is inside..... they shouldn't be senior players.

And if they are both gone, is it because we’ll have Reilly and Wright replace them with the development roles being shelved for now. And if that’s true, will be interesting to see how many other clubs make big savings at line coach level.
Teams would be weighing up getting a top notch assistant and then a couple of rookie line coaches v 3 mid range line coaches. I'd personally be taking a couple of younger, coaches and investing in a great senior coach who can help the senior coach and train up the younger ones.

In playing terms, Rory Sloane, Chayce Jones and Darcy Fogarty is better than Rory Atkins, Jake Kelly and Paul Seedsman

They’re senior only because they’ve been around a while, it’s a meaningless metric. Their understanding of covid rules is as new to them as it is everyone else. They weren’t specifically trained like Hart was, they’ve not done the coaching courses. They might be the oldest in the group, but that doesn’t make them the most competent to run a covid compliant drill.

Turns out 40-50 at clubs now limited to 25 with a 40% cost reduction.

"If budgets allows, the 18 teams will be able to employ a number of staff to work from home, outside of the mandate on those who can enter the club. "

I can see clubs looking at job sharing or having PTEs fulfilling FTEs, then muddying the waters.

Can two employee be FTEs, but 50% WFH and thus only counting for 1 FTE? So instead of 24, you can have 48 FTEs, all WFH half the time? What constitutes the amount of hours they can enter the club? What about Matt Clarke who is part time assigned with AFLW team? Does this count or not?

Another policy on the run from the AFL open to being exploited (and I came up with this in 1min...and I'm not very smart)

The 40% reduction in footy dept cap is pretty hard and fast. That’s going to limit the flexibility that might be gained by playing around with FTEs and working from home.

I wouldn't think so.

37.5 hours a week is 37.5 hours a week irrespective of the site they work from.

But I guess they could try and find your loophole.

So if they have a full time staff, will they not be allowed to work more than 37.5 or 38 hours/week? I can't see this happening. If they are allowed to work more, can the same be done with several PTEs?

To be fair, if a former 300 game player and almost 10 year assistant coach can't count to 2...
And no one said "Wait can we do that??"

Seriously if our players are that dumb then we are in strife.

Yeah I would assume 1 FTE would equate whatever hours one week would entail and there would be limitations about if/how they can go above that. Otherwise you'll have boundaries being pushed and loopholes being found everywhere.

It also seems counter-intuitive to have more bodies doing 1 FTE's hours considering everything.

A 40% cut to a line coaches salary is significant. They'll still have to lose a couple.

If we said to Bassett for instance, "You're senior assistant" then he's likely to take it.

Essendon players didn't question 'experts' on what's being injected into their bodies... so it seems like it's a common 'trust the higher ups' thing.

Not super bright

Why won't WA test them?
I have no idea but you would presume given Karl Langdon is a former WCE player and hosts a radio program over there he'd be speaking with some authority. Maybe the players don't meet the WA Government's criteria for testing...i.e. showing symptoms etc?

I think it would be a good idea for us to go to the Gold Coast as well. Maybe in a camp environment. Bonding and all that.
Could add a mental strength training element as well. Something that really challenges the group and gets them out in to the wilderness. I think we should put Ben Hart in charge of finding a group to run it.

Can't see anything that could go wrong.

It's different when a doctor injects you with "vitamins".

I have some sympathy for those players, ours were just stupid.
