Power could pick six
The Power could have as many as six more new players on Tuesday after the AFL Pre-Season Draft and Rookie Draft are held. There are two spots available on the primary list and four available for rookies.
The club currently has 36 players on its primary list plus Gavin Wanganeen, who was added to the veterans list this year.
Primary lists must have 37 (minimum) or 38 (maximum) so the Power will have at least one selection in the Pre-Season Draft and could have a second pick if it wants to.
The Power’s picks will be at no. 10 and no. 12 although the first two selections in the draft have already been committed by the Western Bulldogs and Carlton to Jade Rawlings and Nick Stevens respectively.
The Power currently has one rookie-listed player – Joel Patfull – and is able to add as many as four more rookies on Tuesday. The club only had two rookie-listed players in 2003 but will increase that for 2004.
Among those vying for spots on the Power lists are the 12 SANFL players who have been training with the squad leading up to the draft - Lucas Block (Glenelg), Alex Button (Glenelg), Dale Ellis (Woodville-West Torrens), Adam Grocke (North Adelaide), Salim Hassan (West Adelaide), Cameron Ilett (Port Adelaide Magpies), Matt Illman (West Adelaide), David Kellett (Central District), Peter Mann (Port Adelaide Magpies), Dylan Pfitzner (Central District), Paul Thomas (Central District), Jarrod Wright (Woodville-West Torrens)
The Pre-Season Draft starts at 9:30am (CST) and the Rookie Draft starts at 10am (CST).
