Are we the only club to do this? That guy with the geled hair who goes around interviewing people (my gf) and attempting to fire up the crowd before each quarter is terrible. It seems so forced when we would do this without them saying we should.

Also this 19th man marketing scheme didn't really seem to work, although i have to admit the 10000 flags looked pretty sweet.

Feel free to add more.

Whoever that idiot is who speaks as the crows are running out onto the ground, and right before the game starts needs to shut the **** up.

He talks to the crowd as if hes talking to a bunch of 10 year olds. Its utterly embarrassing.

Thank god i'm not the only one.

Wow it totally did not work tonight haha, I found it made no difference. The flags looks good (first half of the game) but the crowd = the same as usaull, dull.

Embarrassing as usual.

It's a sad time for the game, when people need to be wowed by ********s from radio stations trying to pump up the crowd with bright flashy lights and gay chants.

The AFC needs to learn that atmosphere cannot be manufactured.

Unless you're a completely soulless organisation supported by brain-dead Yanks. Then it works great.

not sure how often it happens, but when i went to the dome a few years ago they had a guy doing a similar thing. maybe not the interviews, but he craps on before the game and perhaps at half time.

it was the guy who used to be on C7, some kids gameshow where they ran through mazes and had to find keys.

quite frankly there is too much shit going on before during and after the match

how can a crowd get involved in a match when your being advertised to the whole ****ing time.
Agree :thumbsu:

The quieter the crowd, the more gimmicks the club throws at the "problem" - and it only succeeds in making the crowd even quieter.

So even more gimmicks are introduced. A vicious circle.

Or owned by a crooked Russian....

the flags looked good...
but honestly, i got a sore throat from the little yelling/cheering i did do (free kicks against, dumb umpiring decisions, good marks and goals kicked)...took part in a bit of chanting, but i'm buggered - came straight from work too, so was quite tired during the game.

...the guy interviewing people was trying to rev up the crowd? i thought he was just randomly talking to people...

The problem is that they do all that talking and then all of a sudden the Crows are running out and the games starting. They leave you little time to actually think about the game coming up.

He did that separately then tried to rev up the crowd: 'Cmon crows fans give us a big cheer for your team' im pretty sure we can cheer without being told to. The interviews are pretty lame too and i felt like facepalming whenever the guy asked to show him their cheer. Sigh.

Whoever hired that Tilli chick (was she on BB??) needs to be SACKED! After she is, of course! She is SOOOO annoying! I think we should start a new game, whenever she says "AWESOME" we take a shot! Whenever she said "awesome awesome", my sister and I were like SHUT UP SHUT UP! What happened to the guy from Nova? I didn't really like him but he was better than the "awesome awesome" lady!
19th man thing - I think the players/coaches need to concentrate on the players' skills, not on us supporters. If they play well, and don't give us the crap they gave us last night, we'll show up! We don't need this 19th man stuff to show up!! It didn't work last night, although even if we were "the 19th man" we were still playing against a team that had 21 on the field.

The random "19" thing on the boards flashing (like last year when it said CROWS/ADELAIDE or what ever after a goal) was humorous to me, nobody took notice or cheered when it came up.

Part of me wonders whether the campaign actually had the opposite effect. I don't mean than in the sense of it creating less noise, rather, that it led to the ridiculously one-sided umpiring display.
Given the publicity the campaign's had recently, it would not surprise me if the umpires had walked onto the field determined not to be influenced by the crowd, but, being inept as they are, took it way too far.

I thought the flags looked really great though :thumbsu:

Very annoying, I reckon it creates less noise and atmosphere as it feels so awkward and forced. This is the kind of thing Port Power need to try to attract young people build up crowd numbers etc etc. We do not. Wrong for so many reasons, please make it stop.
I don't want to see the bloke out of a job, obviously the hair gel wont pay for itself, but please give him a job mowing the lawns for the same salary or something instead.

:( *GROAN* Why are we trying to copy Port with this non-footy related bs, when they can barely manage average attendance figures over twenty-five thousand a year? Besides, choosing someone like that would have to be the worst possible choice for the role, surely. Irritating does not even begin to describe it, why are we going down this path? Its not only unnecessary but having the opposite effect to what is intended. In addition, I know we're not short on money, but these people still have to be paid don't forget.

I can see what they're trying to do with the 19th man thing, but perhaps trying a little too hard. Give it time, I think its a good idea. I agree entirely with your sentiments though, something like this should not detract from the players and coaches role even in the slightest.

Agree it was terrible, its clear to me by this whole promotion the AFC realise that AFC crowds, no matter how many are there are soft, passionless and would rather listen to the radio or knit. I last night was still stunned at the dead silence at times, even when the crows went forward with purpose, nobody even gets off their arse to get behind the boys when they are going forward:mad: The CSG are rubbish and if it wasnt for the Bay 142er's there wouldbe more noise at the Wednesday afternoon bingo. the sooner we turn over the grannie AFC supporters the better, I still think the club is too la da da nice club, we need to find some mongrel in alot of aeras not just as supporters, is it really going to hurt to be a little bit feared/hated???
