Tom Green potential ACL, let’s just hope for no injuries for our mob unless it’s the older guys like Lynch and Dion of course :rolleyesv1:

At his peak? He was up there. One of the greats is a stretch though.
its not a stretch

we view him with our hate glasses now. would comfortably be the best player in the cfl today

I don't hate him. I've always loved him. I'm just being objective... Novel concept for you I know.

A peak Deledio would be a perfect match for this team with his foot skills, overhead marking and pace. He was very good, but great? Nah.

He had moments or patches of greatness but never sustained enough. If he was in a more successful team things may have been different but we'll never know.

Reckon he lacked the footy smarts to be a 'great'. He was an elite athlete for sure though, more so than a natural footballer.

You can't be serious about Lynch. We have 2 players that we can't afford injured this year (of the oldies), Nank and Lynch.

I was taking the piss hence the rolling eyes

Lalor apparently lighting it up too early days.

For those who like to play around with best 23 selections, feel free to have a crack at your 23 for the upcoming games via the below:

I genuinely don’t know the answer to this. Was it?

I had a glance at that article you posted. Head injury, thumb injury and collarbone injury. Only soft tissue was Conca who kept himself in awful condition as a professional footballer. He had a beer gut and I would regularly see him at the local pub during the week with a pint.

Knights lmao. Check his injury history before he came to the club. Stress fractures, foot, hamstring, abdominal, etc. he was cooked at Adelaide.

Griffiths’ major concern was concussion issues. He also did a shoulder and a finger. You want to blame the medical staff for that?

Grimes struggled from 2010-2013. In 2014 he played 19 games, in 2015 he played 18 games, in 2016 he played 16 games and in 2017 he played 25 games. You’ve actually highlighted how good our fitness staff were in getting him right after a horrible start. Clear pattern emerging there and backs up all of my claims. Thanks for pointing that out for me and strengthening my argument.

Astbury struggled in 2011-12. He had foot niggles in 2015 and was bitten by a stingray. Absolutely flew from 2015 onwards. Full credit to our medical team.

Foley’s degenerative knee condition dated back to his years as a teenager and most of his other complications started 09-12. He retired in 2015.

This has been a massive swing and a miss. Probably the biggest I’ve ever witnessed on BigFooty and that’s saying something!
Griffiths played 63 games in 8-years : 2010-17
Grimes played 26 games in his first 4 years. 2010-13
Astbury 41 games in first 6 years: 2010-15
Conca played 15 games in 3-year patch: 2015-17
Knights 6 games in 3-years: 2013-15
Deledio just 11 games in final season: 2016

You said about Grimes: "You’ve actually highlighted how good our fitness staff were in getting him right after a horrible start".

So Grimes barely played for 4 x years. Astbury barely played for 6 x years. Then you commend our fitness staff for getting them right. So if Smllie, Lalor, McCauliffe etc... go injury free from their 5th year onwards, will you commend them for that also?

And with Conca it's his professionalism.....has MRJ looked like a professional to you prior to this pre-season? Was Smillie a professional in his first season......hmmm..

Lalor came to the club having suffered multiple soft tissue injuries in his underage career, then a broken jaw just before season began. Hotton came to the club having done an ACL. Faull came to the club with stress fractures in his back. Smillie came to the club having missed a chunk of the U18 season. J Clarke has now suffered 3 x ACL's so looks like his body is not suited to AFL footy.

We had a great record with injury management in 2017-18. We really struggled in the first half of 2019 but were good enough to overcome it. 2020 wasn't smooth sailing either.

Serpel has been there for 1 x season. Majority of players who had issues in 2025 either brought them into the season from 2024, or had struggled with those injuries prior to arriving at the club.
