Would be interested to hear what people think Matsuzaka stats will be next season.

I'm tipping:

16-5, 2.95 ERA, 210 Ks

Boston would take those numbers.

Any team in the world would take those numbers. It wouldn't surprise me to see him struggle a bit to start with.

Considering he is pitching in the US for the first time, will have Fenway as he Home Park and will likely be either the number 4 or 5 guy in the Sox rotation to start with I'm going to say he'll take a while to get use to his new home before picking things up towards the playoffs (if the Sox get that far that is).

So I think 12-9, 4.02 ERA and 178 k's. Not too bad for a guy that is on the end of a rotation. What he does in Year 2 now THAT'S whats going to be special if he is given the time by the fans and the media in Boston to get up to speed.

I doubt that he will be 4 or 5 in the rotation, he will be no 1 and bringin his funk to Fenway!

He is good, but he is no number 1 starter just yet and it would be a HUGE mistake for the Sox to even put him there anytime in Year 1 (unless of their were forced to by injury). They already have Schilling and Beckett who'll take spots 1 and 2, so no reason why they shouldn't play it safe and put him in at 4 or 5 to begin with before moving him along as the season (and his form) moves along.

and of course you have Wakefield who can go anywhere to suit.

Yeah, not entirely sure on their plans for him, they might want a Ted Lilly or a Gil Meche for number 5 and start Wake in the pen and keep him for emergencies, might not be a bad idea after last year

Stay clear of Gil, as an M's fan we are ALL glad to see the back of him and can't wait to see which club is stupid enough to pay up for him. He will tank BIG time.

Hopefully Wake has the 5th spot, he's still a solid starter
