Before the Richmond game, i really thought we had gone somewhere like most of us, however on Thursday night we were all brought back down to earth with a shattering loss to undoubtedly the worst team in the comp.

Next week however, we take on possibly the best outfit in the League, alongside Geelong.

Two rounds in and we're looking in the eyes of a thrashing, what will the losing margin be? (if we lose that is)

Their defence is too strong, our forward line is weak
Their forward line is exceptional, our defence is...what defence?
Their midfield is strong, ours will be, but not just yet..
Their ruck combination is only something we can dream of.

My tip, 89 points. :thumbsdown::mad:

Bloody hell, nothing like promoting a losing culture, huh?

st kilda is a good team but there a better teams if we play like we did last time against the we can win remember that baker is out and so is max hudghton so the two players that would go to our best are both out dont count us out yet

First of all StKilda hasn't even played their round 1 game yet...and as the NAB cup is a different type of game with some different rules (as we should know 2005/2007) I'm not judging their form just yet.

Firstly our team had a very educational hit-out against the tigers on Friday. From that game hopefully they learnt some of the basics that a team is required to do to win, like hunger and keep chasing.

I think we lost to Richmond because we thought they'd be an "easyish" team to play against.. and thus the cockiness was our downfall. Generally when you play a good side (StKilda, Geelong, Weagles, etc) teams lift a lot more in their intensity. If our intesity and passion lift against StKilda, with the inclusion of another ruck(s) option Hampson/Kreuzer (please Hampson be ready!) our dynamics change.

If we are able to bring in Hampson, Kreuzer and Fish our dynamics change considerably. Cloke can take stints as a floating back/forward where he can be dangerous... Kreuzer is another tall we lacked against Richmond who has pace and will be a handy tall to throw up Forward. And Fish is just a class player who we missed.

I think we'll see a different team on the 29th we have 9 days to gel and learn and make some plays. We'll win 23points!

i guess you never know in footy but i think itll be closer than people think mainly because i think the dome will favour our gameplan and last time we played them we lost by 10 points and almost won the match.

You do raise some great points, and i haven't looked at it that way.

Heres hoping we can bring in Hampson and Kreuzer.

Not in the least. We lost because of our predictable structural problems and lack of match-fitness in too many critical players. Some supporters might have been taking Richmond easily, but I bet the club wasn't.

Some of those structural problems are only fleeting. If we get Hampson and Kruezer back this week we will at least have a fighting chance in the ruck. That will allow Setanta to go to FB where he belongs. In turn Jamison will get a more suitable opponent. We'll be much better balanced it that happens.

Unfortunately CHF will be an issue all year, and there's no getting around it - even when Fish returns. Filling that hole will be our top priority come draft time.

We will see a much better Carlton performance, each game we will improve according to some of the players, it takes time to gel and being a young group, lets not stress and give them a few weeks. We still have a very very good young side, once some confidence is instilled in the side after a win, they will shock a few.

Hampson back in means a few things.

1) We have a ruckman to match King/Gardiner/Kosi
2) Carlos on Kosi (when playing forward), Waite on Reevolting and Jamison and Gehrig (or even Saddington).
3) We might get first hands on the ball in the middle if Hampson has a good game

To top all that off, when Banno shuts down Dal Santo and keeps him to < 20 possessions, we'll already be well on the way to winning.

Would love nothing better than to beat the Aints but I cannot see it happen, their forward line is much too potent for our backline, our midfield is on par to theirs but the forward line is too Fevola conscious and not consistent, that said I will be there wishing +praying
for us to win coz I loathe the Aints with a passion

Definitely not.

I asked the question expecting most people to be realistic with me, however my OP was taken as a troll.

I just generally want to know how you guys think much we'll lose by (or win with a bit of luck).

Our margins Vs the Saints over the past 5 years have not been impressive, except our last game in which i walked away relatively proud at the fight we put up.

I think we're a chance against the Saints. First of all, you have to give credit to Richmond. They plugged away even when they were trailing by a fair bit and couldn't hit a target. I thought Carlton kicked the ball as good as I've ever seen them, except for goal kicking and Carrazzo. At least we now actually have skill. If we showed a bit of ticker we probably could've ran away with that game. I honestly thought we were home half way through the second quarter. A decent side would've gone on with it.

We looked terribly underdone, unfit, and undersize. The last one will take some time to fix, but surely we can prepare ourselves better for the last 21 games. We have the cattle now. but it's time we learnt how to win and got serious about it.

I'm glad we have people like Ratten, Judd, Swan, and Pratt onboard. They need to reverse the culture and attitude left from the Pagan era.
