I'm really amped for the Saturday night game at the SCG this week. I've always preferred the atmosphere at night games, and the fact that guzzling beer doesn't seem as seedy as it does at 1pm on Sunday. I also much prefer the SCG given that it's a lot closer to home, and I have an SCG membership. Also, if we could fill ANZ I'd be cool with it, but I'd much rather sit in a packed SCG than a half full ANZ

What are your preferences?

  • ANZ Vs SCG.
  • Saturday Night Vs Sunday Arvo
Would love a Friday night game or two as well, prob not going to happen though.

Saturday night games always have a bit more atmosphere than Sunday arvo ones IMO. I've only been to one game at ANZ stadium (PF vs Lions) and I have to say I was dissapointed, it just seemed like the way the stands are positioned that you don't get that huge wall of noise that you do at grounds like the MCG and the SCG. I've been to a few big games at the SCG (96 QF and PF) and have to say that the atmosphere was much better than it was at ANZ stadium even with many less spectators.

Aye, the layout doesn't retain much noise. It's far too open. Even when it's full it doesnt seem to be resonating the same way that the SCG or MCG does. I can only imagine how dismal it must be out there watching a Souths/Gold Coast RL game with <10 000 people.

im super excited for saturday night games
i love games at the SCG because im am just around the corner from the SCG so nice and easy 2 get 2 plus i have SCG tickets aswell so im always in the nobles stand right behind the goals soaking up all the action i also love rugging up on a cold night and seeing the big lights light up everything! Also nothing beats waking up late on a sunday morning after an awesome win!

Dont get me wrong games on a sunday arvo are really good getting a chance 2 watch any game at any venue is awesome!
But im sooooooooo excited for the Saints game :D

Even though I come from the lower mountains, I much prefer the SCG to the concrete jungle. Believe it or not, there is only 10 mins or so difference in the travelling time via public transport (have to change trains at both Granville and Lidcombe for Homebush) But I wouldn't care if it was an hour - the great view from the Noble stand, the frends I have made with the people I sit with, the bar with all the Swans legends pics, the memories of joy and pain and much more mean that to me the SCG is home. And where else can you stroll downstairs after a big win and crack a celebratory Crownie? Certainly not at Homebush!

ps Soph, do you go to the footy in disguise? All we see from the top deck are the broad posteriors of Kenny's blue rinse harem!

Wouldn't have picked that. Not when you have to factor in the bus or walk from Central. Agree with you about the Noble bar - I love those old portraits of Dennis Carroll and co. The wait for a drink can be nasty though, that's one thing that ANZ has going for it.

She wishes!! Kenny leads the song in the rooms after every vistory. If Soph got down there it would be an adults only rating.

Is Kenny the old dude who wears a swans jacket and has white hair?
I see him all the time i just sit a little futher away from the old girls we always have a chat they said i was allowed Jarred Moore but cant take anyone else

Ah, so that's Kenny of previous 'blue rinse harem' fame.

With a young, blonde Soph_Cross parked alongside his normal flock, it's no wonder he's so red faced.

Ahem. Meanwhile...

SCG, 2:10pm, Sunday, for the following reasons:
:: SCG is in the east and is therefore better, closer to home and closer to the pub
:: 2:10pm is later than 1:10pm, therefore I can sleep in longer on a Sunday
:: It's so nice sitting in the sun drinking beer
:: It doesn't get as cold as the night games

I like ANZ for practical reasons, closer for me and much easier transport options. However, I do like the SCG's atmosphere. I can still remember the tension (and the eventual ecstasy) in the 05 SF and I think the fact it was played at the SCG rather than ANZ got us home.

I like both day and night games, it's definitely a more intense atmosphere at night, but I also prefer the lazy feel of the afternoon game, especially at ANZ.

I know :( It sucks. I work Sundays anyway so I guess Saturday night is my ideal time, haha! 1:10pm is just so early for a Sunday. I mean you have to sleep in, have a leisurely breakfast, pick an ourfit, do your hair/makeup etc and then get to the match...these things all take time!

Sleep in ? Try getting up at 7 for the reserves game!

Have a chat to him one day, does this old codger think he is good.Does a great job following the club but we don't need to see him in the middle of the club song when we win.
Would much prefer Soph behind the goals with the new no.33 jumper on instead of the 13 of the chubby little front runner from st.scum.

The Lake oval wasn't bad to watch the footy, cheap food, cheap beer and plenty of transport close by.
Sorry i was just reminising

agree, i used to go out with one of the Cook familys daughters, Adel or Bianca, cant remember now, both hotties, they lived in the caretakers house behind the umpires rooms, I loved walking out the living room, into the action, best seats in the house, right under the small scoreboard(we used to get paid 5 bucks to change the score) Lakeside was an awsome venue!...:thumbsu:

SCG, Friday night.

Have been to two friday night games at the SCG. Incidentally, they were the only two that have been there for many, many years.

2003 - Round 5 vs Melbourne
2005 - Semi Final vs Geelong

Both great nights.

But if we have to settle for Saturday nights then I'll still take the SCG any day. ANZ does absolutely nothing for me.
