Alright guys, seems the old man has taken off overseas for a business trip and wont be back until Friday afternoon next week.

I now have one ticket available. Not selling to make profits or anything, the ticket will be at cost price (21$) so if you want it, the link is here:

The seats are awesome (smack bang on the wing Q18, top level, front row) and some on eBay are going for upwards of 300$ Grab an absolute bargain now!

Will be good sitting with one of you come Friday :) Go the Pies!

Anyone know how the ticket sales are travelling? Surely we will break 90,000, Hawthorn fans are similar to us, they flock in numbers.

I'm sitting 4th level, Q55, front row. Woke up at one the other day and totally forgot about the tickets, still happy I snagged good seats.

Ticket sales aren't exactly going according to AFL expectations.
The AFL members is usually sold out in a couple of hours as tickets only cost $17. They are now allowing silver members and guest passes which cost $120 for adults. Guest passes or silver AFL members were not on the agenda when tickets went on sale.

They should be more realistic with pricing. Even though I paid $17, I could afford the $120 as well. However there are a lot of people who cannot or are reluctant to pay that amount for a football game, particularly if we are talking about a whole family scenario.

I can only talk from what I know, but the AFL members didn't even sell out as of today at noon, and they were offering guest passes and tickets for silver members, which is almost unheard of for a Collingwood prelim.

I also know there are still seats available in the public area, as a friend of a friend got fairly decent seats in the southern stand (top deck) this afternoon.

For some reason this game isn't selling through the rook like most expected, it may be the price of the tickets, the fact that the Hawks membership numbers are highly inflated, or the live TV, but it probably won't even be an official sellout (standing room and all seats exhausted).

The reason could be one side has about a third of their membership based in Tassie, so a smidgen less then 15,000 members were probably never coming.

Logical thinking

Actually, 8,500 of our members come from Tassie. It is true that we have a sizeable interstate membership base in addition to this, but we're still left with about 40,000 Melbourne based members.

To suggest our figures are inflated - given Collingwood's number of 3 game members - is a bit rich.

I'd say you'll have 55-60% of the non-neutral crowd, probably reflecting a Melbourne member base perhaps 30-40% larger than ours.

A big factor this time round is going to be the price point. The AFL have really treated the fans with contempt this finals series - not so much to do with the three price categories, but the pathetic allocation they've given to standard tickets, and the insulting places they've allocated premium seats.

My two cents, anyhoo.

Herald Sun did a break down of the memberships mid year. I can't quite remember it but the Pies 3 game membership numbers were pretty low, and the amount of full and premium memberships were high.

Myth busted, sorry bout that.

But as posted, our Melbourne members are probably a good quarter or third less than yours, though this is because of a proportionately larger interstate membership base.

Even still you'd think this game would have been close to being sold out. Perhaps it being a cold Friday night and the game has already been announced as live on TV has put people off, plus the ticket prices?

I'm guessing there'll be a few go along spontaneously. The fact that the MCC has sold out reserved seats, and the glut of AFL members tickets on the market, probably will push the figure to nudge 90,000.

But the AFL have shot themselves in the foot this finals series, crowd wise. Had they simply kept the same allocations I remember back in 08, simply adjusting the prices along with the CPI, the crowds would have been far better.
People just don't feel so good about pissing away money in economically uncertain times.

I got q57 row 0.
So annoying considering I pay 600+ for a membership all year and general public people got better seats.
If I hadn't spent $70 I would be watching from home!
