Most 19yo's sipping bundy'n'coke and minding their own business who get popped square in the moosh go on AM radio twelve months later and mouth off about vastly superior footballers, I've found.

That's pretty low

Get your hand off it. He wasn't put in a coma, he didn't die, he had a few teeth knocked out. Put two and two together and it's pretty obvious he wasn't so "innocent". Especially now we know what a smart arse he is.

Considering they were talking about having our players have "another memorial game" on their board.

Crouch knowing Neade from high school and being friends with him in no way diminishes the lack of respect a no-name tosser like Brown showed for our player. What's the bet that Sanderson heard that interview, cringed (as rightly he should), then rang up Crouch and said "We need a feel good story with Neade so he doesn't make Luke look like a mug."

Andrew Capel ranked the 44 players in the Showdown. Of course Adelaide players fill the first four spots and a Port player is 44th (Kane Mitchell, altho Capel acknowledges that is due to lack of game time - still, 44 is a good number for a John Platten lookalike ;)). At 43 is Luke Brown.

This is like Groundhog day with the first Showdown. All the pundits are saying that the Crows will win (classier players, more experience etc), but you just get this feeling that it will be Port's day because they have something to prove.

I have a feeling this Luke Brown will get a nice reception on sunday.
If only I knew who he was .. o_O
Doesn't he wear number 19?

That's the guernsey number not the Chanel perfume although he may be a nancy boy too.

This.

Luke "Innocent Bystander" Brown is still a disrespectful arseclown.

I have the same feeling Janus. Oh please let it be true. The fruit tingles players and supporters have been unbearable i just want them to shut the hell up.

I really had no idea who Luke Brown was, but upon seeing his picture I can see why someone punched him in the chops. Just has one of those faces that cries out 'punch me'. And given he seems to have a mouth that goes in to gear whilst his brain is in neutral, I think the police report in to the incident should probaby read 'Only punched once, lucky not to be punched numerous times. Nothing to see here.'

Rowe - "So how are you going to handle Westhoff?"
Brown - "Handle him? We'll just put the ball on his head and let Tex run through him"

Brown - "I can stand anybody"

Rowe - "Reckon you'd be able to stand Neade?"
Brown - "I'll be right"

Just the smug tone in which he said it in. You'd better get a kick now young man.

I just heard the Westhoff comment and I think there's a bit of over-reaction going on.

It was more from Rowe "You're the coach Browny, what do you do with Westhoff? How do you stop Westhoff?" and he replies "I don't know, um put the ball on his head etc ... I don't know". He was laughing through that bit, just caught up in the buffoonery of Rowe. It came across more as a compliment to Westhoff to me than some veiled threat.

Don't know about the other stuff, but is there really an issue with him coming across as believing he can beat an opponent?

I'm as easily offended as the next Port supporter but he really came across in the bit I heard as a kid caught up in the moment kidding around with a fellow crow in Rowe.

If you need to distort it.

Distort what? It's right there in the headline.

Just to be clear, the problem here is the angle the 'Tiser takes in the story, not Crouch.

So you only heard a bit of it ??

Please dont take away my ability to build up rage leading up to the weekend battle by being a voice of reason..

They played the Westhoff comment between segments, and it didn't come across to me as Brown being an arrogant twat. Rowe could easily have followed up with 'You better watch out for Jay Schulz's sprigs in the back of your head when he flies for a screamer' and Brown probably would have laughed along. Of course Rowe would never say that.

Anyway, maintain your rage. ;)

I like the Renouf for Redden swap. Renouf last year with limited match fitness was competitive against Jacobs in the first Showdown and has the strength and aggression needed - he has a fair motor too so sharing ruck duties with Lobbe (last year Renouf's back up was Trengove) should see him through ok. Renouf had a couple of huge hit out games when he ran into some fitness before injury ruined his season.

Redden probably hasn't done enough as Kenny says, and Lobbe is a little more versatile. Neither really impressed against GWS although Lobbe worked his way into the game. We do need to work harder at the clearances (still wouldn't be surprised to see Moore come in as a late change) but GWS did get to rove to some nice hit outs to advantage at least from Brogan.

Why Redden got the tap
