Mate.......some here write with knowledge, nib pens and eloquence.

Others are uneducated, and write with crayons and monosyllables.

Just sayin......

Which category do I fall in?

Budding football scribes

We will be doing match previews again this year written by anyone who wants to have a go.

Indicate in this thread your nomination for a particular round you want to write the preview for. I will put your name against the round and remind you the week before the match that your preview is due.

Previews can be done in any format you’d like. You might like to discuss possible ins and outs, match-ups, head-to-head records, last time the teams met, etc. When you are finished writing your preview contact a mod so it can be posted in the OP of the Preview thread. Please don't start the Preview thread itself, this is the job of mods.

Good pickup. Thanks Daniel McL! :D

Haha it's going to be a sh*t preview written while I'm on the way to the airport to fly to Melbourne!

"Geelong vs Carlton.

With Geelong losing to the Crows, and Carlton losing to Brisbane, both sides will want to bounce back on Saturday night at Etihad.

Carlton will take confidence going into the game knowing that they won the most recent encounter between the two teams in 2016 when Carlton won 104-85.

Geelong have quite a different team from the one who played Carlton last season, with Jimmy Bartel, Corey Enright, Josh Caddy, Rhys Stanley, Steven Motlop, Cory Gregson, Shane Kersten, Billie Smedts & Darcy Lang all OUT this week from last year's side.

Bryce Gibbs was Carlton's best player last time Geelong played Carlton, the Cats will be hoping that Scott Selwood can shut him down this time.

The Cats will also be hoping that Tom Hawkins can return to form after a quiet few weeks.

It is also Zach Tuohy's first game against his old side, so the Carlton forwards might try to get into him to throw him off his game considering he's been the Cats best running defender this year.

Either way, I'm expecting a closer game than people think. Carlton know the sort of gameplan that is required to compete against us which is just tagging J. Selwood while applying relentless pressure to the ball carrier making us make mistakes. E. Curnow & Cripps are big outs for them but they have a lot of young talent in their side mixed with the experienced Gibbs, M. Murphy, Simpson, Docherty, Kreuzer, etc.

Tip - Cats by 7."

Terrible preview but ah well, flights leaving soon.
