Pride: Do we really want to lose to calrton and get the wooden spoon for prioirty picks?

OR

Picks: Get the wooden spoon and get prioirty picks?

I dont know what I want really I just dont want everyone to remember us in november when the draft is on, as the team who won the wooden spoon. Would the differnce between pick 1 and 2 and 3 really make a differnce?

What are other thoughts?

Personally, the wins....I see others viewpoint but when we lose my guts feels ripped out. I'd rather finish with 6 or 7 wins.

Of course the matter may be totally out of our hands. Since Carlton will be playing Willy anyway.

take the wins now. and in 3 years you'll feel gutted one or two more times then if we lose, and you feel gutted this time.

that will continue for a game or two each year for 4 years.

We won't get the spoon.

I think having 6 wins would get us a harder time from the opposition plebs over the silly season than if we stick with 5. I'm comfortable with 5 and it's clear that it would be better for us in the long term.

Take the picks, its absolutely idiotic of us to win 6 or 7 games.

People will feel much when we have some good young talent at the club and pick 3 and 6 sounds better than than only pick 5.

Completely agree. There is no point winning anymore. Just chuck all of the kids out there. Also, having that extra high pick will be a good bargaining chip come trade week.

I despise Carlton, but the pain will be eased by the thought of the shiny new presents we can unwrap in November.

Pride......can't stomach another defeat to Carlton... not even picks is worth the joy of beating those buggers !
Winning is important for the morale of the joint to over summer... we've got something like a 33% winning ratio since 2003...not very healthy

Without Tarrant we at last dont have any forwards, so its not likely we will win much. A few more injuries maybe and a report or two for say blowingomeones hair out of place or using an air current to concuss someone.

has to be picks and pride will take care of itself down the track....

No way should we be playing for picks! We should try and win all our remaining games, i would prefer that we didnt get any priority picks! Because when we do succeed and win a flag everyone will be saying its coz of the priority pick! stuff em we dont need em!

We shouldn't be playing for picks. However, we should also not be trying to scrap together a side of injured players to get a win.

Tarrant should have that operation on his knee now so he can be ready for pre-season, and any other players carrying injuries should get their rest as well.

At this point in the season, we should not be giving players painkilling injections to get them out on the park. Except maybe Ryan Lonie, because we need to get his trade value up.

With a knee injury, are you serious.

Pride all the way, i just hope we win Carlton and dont mind if we lose the other 3 games if we are competitive and lose narrowly. :)

I know i would Love to Win a Few More Games but Honestly, What can we salvage from this season? Not too much really, it would be a shame to go thgrough all thsi and not gain a priority pick in the last year it is available

I totally undertsnad where everyone is coming from with the pride thing but honestly who doesnt wnat a priority pick.

You can play on a medial strain. I've had a medial strain. Lonie pretty much only runs in straight lines anyway.

I'm not saying we need to push him every week, but maybe just get him out there for the last couple, so people know it's not a serious knee injury.

I would if in Collingwood's position just rest the likes of Tarrant and other players carrying injuries or tired such as Burns. Give young players more game time, stick the likes of Egan in the middle for most of the game (although they are doing that). Rest one of O'Bree, Holland or Lica and put Iacobucci in their place. Try Davis in the midfield. Give the likes of Williams, Lokan and B.Morrison a run or two and disguise it as a "last chance". Don't call it tanking for draft picks but just planning for next year. If we manage to win all the better for our morale and development. Who gives a flying **** if the bigfooty public give us a hard time for a bad season. You are being to self conscious.

Either way we will somehow win another game which means we won't get priority picks. Apparently there won't be much difference between the top 5 or so picks and it's more of what type of player the club with the pick wants. Hurn seems to be the number one pick but I don't think we would pick him up if we had that pick because of his lack of pace.

The priority pick is a joke. It should be a pick outside the top 10 or even after the first round. It actually hurts other teams (the teams outside the 8 who dont have priority picks) more than equalises the competition. Regardless of who we ended picking up last year (Egan has been great) we could of had pick 4 instead of pick 7. That's a pick of Tambling or Franklin in which we would of gone for Tambling in a flash.

You aren't even looking at the situation right. It goes:

Pride- Let Carlton (your arch-bloody-rival) win the spoon.

Picks- Picks 3 and 6, but Carlton don't win the spoon.

Some might say it's a win/win situation. Some might say it's a lose/lose situation.

Personally, I hope you beat us. Picks 1 and 3 is much better than 2 and 5.

we will not lose this week and also ther is a chance that we can still make the finals if other teams lose but i predict that we will come 9th or 10th.
Also i hear that brayden shaw, burns adn tarrant are out for the year adn that rocca will come back and play this week or next week

That's 5 wrong statements in two sentences (7 if you split up the Shaw/Burns/Tarrant claim). Is this a new BF record?
