I hate to say it but we need to take some of Collingwoods brains and start to input it into our system. Not Demons left overs and guys who are getting the sack. I am scared ratts is filling the coaching staff with people who will not be better than him and get his job.

Lockyer can give a great insight into the new defensife structures sytems in place at Collingwood. Tho we should know most of it, i am sure there are little things that can make a heap of difference.

I want coaches from either saints, pies or cats.

Wasting our time with anyone else.

Defensive structures and zones a crucial and we need to learn how to implement them.

The Annual Week of Panic. We didn't win the flag and this is how we match the premiers by this time next year (talk preposterous shit about every position on and off field). Grouse. :thumbsu:
Any copy what the premiers did, poach their coaches, players and game plan......theyre going to be a dynasty dont you know

Its only a matter of time before the "why do we continue to use the corridor when everyone knows the premiers hug the boundary" threads start.

Lockyer would certainly give the Bullants first hand knowledge of what it takes to make it

as a VFL player.

I don't mean to be rude, and I definitely don't want to come across as a troll, but you're a first grade idiot.

Tarkyn was the one bloke on our list, if any could, that could be said to have got the absolute most out of his abilities. He was probably the least talented player in the competition yet still forged a career of 227 games through sheer work ethic and effort. The kind of person you'd want to be rubbing off on young impressionable men.

But hey, glad we've kept him. At least he'll be able to give the Magpies first hand knowledge of what it takes to make it.

Barker just announced as a Forward Line coach

Why pick up guys who have been sacked. I presumed he should have been sacked considering he went from the saints, they all of a sudden went well up forward and then went to Hawthorn who had a great forward line and now have a dysfunctional one.

Why pick up guys who have tried and failed? Even the guy we got from Essendon who is highly rated seems to have only been at failing clubs.

why are we so quick to assume the worst when we don't have the facts????

\chicken littles

Exactly. Might just be my ignorance but how exactly does one get an idea of an assistant's coach's competence from the outside (particularly one from an opposition club)?

Yeah lets get all the pies hacks as assistant coaches ...what a dumb thread

Good luck with the second stage of your career Tarks :thumbsu:

Didn't Collingwood just appoint Lappin after he was sacked? Bulldogs & Montgomery? What happened to Elshaug after he was sacked? And what of Barry Mitchell? Didn't the Brisbane Lions appoint Leigh Matthews as coach after he had been sacked by Collingwood? Hasn't Neale Daniher found his way to another club, albeit in a different role? Neil Balme has done some good work at Geelong & Collingwood after having been sacked by Melbourne.

You're absolutely correct. Lockyer was never the most talented player out there, but he worked his ass off and put together a very respectable AFL career for himself. He, and his work ethic, is exactly the kind of guy that we could use to mentor our young kids.
