Prismall BOG in the Magoos

Why note Trade him for a first or second round draft pick??? Bit of extra money in the salary cap be easier to keep the stars together and Brent gets to play regular league footy. He is also out of Contract at the end of the year i believe

What the?? Djerkurra is out of contract at the end of the year but I am sure he will be retained as if he can stay injury free might become valuable. Prismall on the other hand wouldn't be on big money so not sure on the salary cap pressure he would relieve. Also a 2nd or 3rd round is still going to be a player that cant make the top 22. At least prismall adds to our midfield depth and we know if needed he can perform at AFL level.

He's talking about Djerkurra, not Prismall.
Do you read?

:D

So he gets a couple of games to cement a spot?

Absolutely. The beauty of our midfield is its depth. If you don't perform in the midfield (or have significant runs on the board already), then there is someone ready to replace you.

What if he has a mediocre to poor 3 games? Is he finished at Geelong?

Not at all. He goes back to the VFL and has to win his spot back.

How do you prove you can play at the top level if you aren't given the chance?

This unfortunately is a byproduct of having a very strong list of mids, and Prismall is competing in this environment. This may mean that he has to move on to get his chance elsewhere, which will be unfortunate, but it is something the club probably accepts. If this is a consequence of having great depth, it is something I can live with.

Bear in mind I'm not in favour of gifting him games when there is no obvious candidates for him to replace.

Amen to that.

I can't believe you cannot see what is right in front of you, he has EARNED a shot at AFL level because of his BOG performances in the VFL. How else can you possibly EARN a debut game in the AFL?, what are you suggesting this kid does in order to EARN a game?...this is not charity, he deserves a go.
Which midfielder?.....Byrnes and Rooke against Melbourne would have been a start. Yes Rooke is versatile but looks underdone, Byrnes is not versatile.

Noone can convince me that Shannon brings a better game at half forward flank than Prismal. Prismal would deliver the ball to our leading forwards consistently better than Byrnes and I would also suggest Rooke.

Why does Prismal play midfield in the reserves?....cos he's a quality midfielder and he proved on the weekend that he can pinch hit up forward as well.

In my mind Saturday against the Saints is the acid test, the saints have been written up as slow so Byrnes cannot be picked in the side because speed is required to match the saints

In no way am I suggesting anyone should be given a "charity" oppurtunity, but what you are suggesting sounds an awful lot like Gary Ayres.

3 weeks ago Bomber was suggesting in the media that the start of the season was the ideal time to play the some kids....well Tenace has had a go and so has West (more out of necessity) so what's the reason young Brent hasn't had a go?...I'd love to know.

We are going to have to agree to disagree about Byrnes being a midfielder. I don't think he is.

Tenace had one game as a replacement for Wojak to provide run out of defence. And was promptly sent back to the Magoos. West has been given opportunities due to Ottens being out. Prismall would not have been a sensible replacement for either of these guys.

I will say this again - Prismall has had fantastic form in the VFL and is unlucky not to get a game, but I cannot see who he should replace in the midfield.

You say that you don't think anyone shoudl be given charity games, and then you suggest bringing Prismall in as a replacement for someone who plays a different role in the side. This would require a shuffle of the side to accomodate one player. In my eyes this is charity.

And by the way - I have not insulted you in any way shape or form in this thread and have kept playing the ball not the man. And you go and compare me to Gary Ayres? This is the greatest insult you can give a Cats fan - the guy is/was an absolute tool and did everything possible to destroy the fabric of our club. The gloves are off now.;)

Hmm most would say he's done enough to win a spot now. It's all a bit circular I guess.

Lose Prismall, and there goes some of our great depth. It's never going to be possible to keep good players at the club when they aren't getting regular games I guess.

I think we actually agree with each other Doris, it has just taken us a few posts to realise it!:thumbsu:
