MM 49% winning record at Collingwood.
15 years since his last flag, 0 at Collingwood.
Complains he doesn't have the cattle to play a certain brand of footy despite having access to:- Pick 1, Pick 2, Pick 3, Pick 5, Pick 7, Pick 8 & Pick 10.

That's 7 Top 10 Picks.

He made the same comment in 05 over 4 years ago.

Has never in this time fixed the ruck, has implemented a flawed gameplan that hides certain flaws of players, meaning they will come undone when it counts.

Contradicts his earn a game at VFL philosiphy week in, week out.

Just some things to mull over for the MM brigade.

He has had nearly 10 years to do something time for someone else to have a go.

Our side/club has not grown in stature since 2002.

His standing in the game has gone from strength to strength. Until now.

Thank god most are starting to wake up to what he has been doing.

Was it Eddie or MM that made the comment when MM arrived at the club;

"We want to be the Manchester United of the AFL".

Well, 10 years on, we are more like the Newcastle United (who quite appropriately are in a relegation battle and are called the magpies) of the AFL.

I recall the club saying this as well.

Leaving aside the fact that no AFL club can replicate the success of the big Eurpoean soccer clubs, due to salary cap, drafting, etc it was a comment that was probably something akin to Carlton's, "We/'re Coming" marketing push.

But really, how silly does this wannabee comparison look now?

The under-achieving Newcastle comparison however, is spot on.

Don't have the cattle to play through the middle is plausible in regards to games against Geelong, but against Essendon?? That kind of statement is like an empty shaft you can mine forever.

I'm not saying it's the style for all occassions, but at least give it a go against mediocre teams, or at least defend the corridor better if you're not going to run through there.

Mick might like us to play one-on-one footy, but wishing it doesn't make it so. Opposition players flooding back or zoning means we don't get one-on-ones - we get late spoils, third men up, loose sweepers etc..

EDIT: If Mick can show a way to beat such tactics, whether by emulation or invention, then that is fine with me. I'm not anti Mick per se, would just like to see some variability in the playbook.

Always been one of Mick's biggest problems - he's often too stubborn to make the necessary changes both in strategy and on game day.

Classic example was Heath Shaw being tagged by Bryce Gibbs last year - he never gave Shaw the opportunity to break the tag by pushing up the field. Even the elite defenders in the competition struggle with a forward tag - take Hodge and McLeod for example.

our game plan has not evolved with the modern game for the past 18-24 months.

There is a Malthouse thread where this is being discussed thoroughly.

Use the search function, or better yet, have a look at the top thread on the board which is stickied so you can't miss it. I'm not merging stuff any more which is blatantly unnecessary, next time it's going to be deleted not just closed.
