He underachieved in his debut season compared to Egan Rusling T Cloke O'Brien Davies and Fanning. Nobody's expecting instant success, but he ended 2004 no further up the pecking order than when he started it. I'll take your word for it that he played ok, but I stand by my comment that he needs a big 2006 for Willy to prove he will be a long term Collingwood player.

Apparently he has been told that his future job is to take over from Licuria. Whilst I am now a huge Licuria fan (as you never die wondering with Lica) I was not originally.

Yakka has a similar build but gee he looks small to me and the games I saw him play he looked out of his depth but that is okay they have to learn and from all reports he is happy to learn as much as he can.

There are very few instant champions in the game. Who knows if Yakka will get there but again if he does not make it he will not die wondering. But it would be nice to see Obree, Swan, H Shaw, Davis, Davies, Lonie, Walker Fanning and Yakka all burning in the VFL putting pressure on the seniors. The problem in 2005 was that players got games because they were the next best or the only alternative. We need the players to earn their spots this year then we will be aware of who can make it and who cannot
