Did anyone see these scum burning the flags of the usa and Australia ? Then when the police get hard on the no good dole bludging rent a crowd, they cry that they are treatedd too rough !
In my opinion, it was the horses getting revenge for those scum throwing marbles last time and causing the horses to fall.
If it were up to these people in 20 years time Australia will be run by Afghanistan. They dont want the u.S to take action on Afghanistan and Iraq ! Yeah lets just not do anything and wait for Afganistan and Iraq to destroy us, which would happen if we did nothing.

They also seem to think that "peaceful protests" means they can disrupt other people's lives, destroy property and act violently but the police are not meant to do anything.

It is their right to be able to burn the flag.

This is why we are such a great country because people can freely make such statements - no matter how stupid.

I agree it is ignorant and stupid, but it is their right to be that way.

Being Australian is not based on a flag or a piece of cloth, it is a spirit, it is a state of being which is based on freedom.

Whilst we may not like all the things that stem from freedom, we should be willing to die to defend that right.

Freedom is not something that you can bargain with or draw lines in the sand with - you either have it or you don't.

As long as the actions of a person do not intefere with the rights of others to enjoy their freedom- they should be allowed.

Burning a flag, as distasteful as it is, is a direct result of Australia being a free country.

No it's not. It is not against the law to burn the Australian flag.
John Anderson is considering amending the Crimes Act to make it an offence, but at the moment it isn't.
Besides it's freedom of speech isn't it? If you feel strongly about something surely you have the right to protest about it.

It's called freedom of speech. The right to protest, the right to speak out. It's a democracy. The only thing those protesters could possibly be guilty of is marching without a permit. They went ahead with the march after they were refused a permit.
Besides, wasn't there a rally at Melbourne Uni a couple of weeks ago when the Australian and USA flags were burnt? What's the difference between that and yesterday's flag burning?

What is it that they're actually protesting about. I always hear these wishy-washy reasons. Is there a precise cause that they are protesting about?

And secondly:

If they do have a defined cause, have they suggested a workable solution?

I am currently at the protest march. I came along for the curiosity and to experiance what its really like.

And to see hippys getting their heads kicked. I am in an internet cafe so I cant really give you a detailed version of whats going on. But its a ****en nightmare.

All i can say is that this march is really a mask to hide the fact that this is a clash with the NSW Police Force. I have seen many cowardly acts by protesters and the police are not far off.

Will have more detailed thread this arvo when i get home.
