Bizzell is a good player, but I wouldn't trade Chaplin for him.

From the AFL site

Draft order for next Tuesday’s pre-season draft:

Round One
(1) Western Bulldogs, (2) Carlton, (3) Melbourne, (4) Richmond, (5) Geelong, (6) Kangaroos, (7) Hawthorn, (8) Fremantle, (9) Adelaide, (10) Port Adelaide

Round Two
(11) Richmond, (12) Port Adelaide

Interesting that Port will be having two picks. Wonder if they will go for an experienced player with one of those picks and a young player with the other.

They say we have 2 picks in the PSD, then they link to an article saying we already have 37 on the list of 38. Which one is it???

Hmm yes that's a bit strange. One for the X Files.

To add to the mystery Port have said in today's Tiser (no link yet) they'll go for an experienced player and see who's available before they decide to use their second pick. Maybe they've flagged an intention to vet's list Gav?

The way some reports are talking Phil Read could fall thru. Would you take him?

I would take him, sure he has had some problems with his knees but he is worth a punt. There is an huge upside, especially his toughness, if he comes through.

I like Phil Read's game, but not his position. How many ****ing back flankers do we need?

Thought that might be your view. Don't s'pose it helps that he could tag too ... ;)

I'd be surprised if he dropped down to our pick, but maybe he has contractual demands that make a rookie player more appealing.

My preference is talls, talls and only talls.
We have enough midfielders and other "smalls" that need to be given game time. Lets find out what we got before we look for quick fixes.
Wrt talls, we should do what we did with rucks a few years back. Get heaps on the list, and eventually one or two will stand up.
Why is it good to have heaps? Because the one that eventually stands up is not always the obvious candidate, and we need a tall or two to stand up.

We have a few talls out training - Ellis, Grocke, Pfitzner and Illman - most would likely be rookie list prospects unless they've shown some good form at training. With two picks possible in the PSD Stewie would be checking out Max Basheer Reserve - particular interest in Parry I'd hope. There's also Gayfer training at Collingwood and maybe Crowe delisted by the Roos.

Haven't looked into players too much but this is what I'm after in the rookie draft and PSD:

Teenage ruckman - could be Parry but wouldn't be top of the list in this category, Dubieniecki could be
Tall back (pocket/flank) e.g. Gayfer (replacement for Bish)
Small BP - plenty of HBF's but not many BP's, I reckon u could make Marty McGrath a good BP
Small forward - Sansbury
Wingman - Hassan
Another young KPP - Parry?
Matt Illman - worth a punt

Is Luke Molan worth a look? Or too many injuries already?

(PS - Sansbury's already been drafted)

Channel Nine reported we will take in the PSD:

Brett Jones

Details:
Club: University Amateurs/Claremont
DOB: 6 Aug 82 Hgt: 187cm Wgt: 80kg
Position: Defender
Natural foot: Unknown

Honours:
National Draft Camp Invitee 2003

Profile:
Once again, I haven't seen him play, but Brett is a possible mature age recruit, having turned 21 a couple of months ago.

Pre draft camp he was described as a "medium, inside defender who can go forward if needed. Aggressive, hard at it type who in his first year at Claremont after playing amateurs last year. Is also a gifted cricketer, playing for the WA 2nd XI last year."

Jones put in some good efforts at the camp, ranking in the top 10 for the sprint and vertical leap.

You can never have enough half back flankers ... apparently ...

Still, what's Ch 9's source? That Port might've spoken to Jones in the last six weeks? I'm sure they've spoken to a lot of guys. They have a dozen training with them, and their eye on a couple over the fence. All will be revealed soon enough ...
