I started a thread about pubs in Melbourne on the Lifestyle board but didnt get a big response. So just wondering what are some good pubs in Melbourne that you have been to.

A pub that I have been to lately is Seamus O' Tooles Irish Pub, Knox City Shopping Centre, Knox Ozone, Burwood Highway, Wantirna South. Its a pretty good place where you can seat down and have a nice lunch or dinner or just pop in for a beer. On their website it has said that they make the best parma in the Eastern Suburbs (as voted on parma.com.au).

My favorites these days would be the GB on Church Street, Richmond, The Royston Hotel, River Street, Richmond, The Local Taphouse, Carlisle Street, St Kilda East, and the Charles Dickens, Collins Street, CBD.

There is only one Parma place you need to go to in Melbourne and it aint in ****ing knox city. Mrs Parmas at the top of little bourke st, has awesome range of beers as well.

I reckon the parmas there are ordinary for what they charge, and the price for beer is pretty steep there too.

The best value for money parma has to be the good ol Palmerston on Kings Way, South Melbourne.

My favourite pub is the GB in Church St Richmond. I've been going there on and off for thirteen years and it's like a comfy old jumper you can just slip straight back on. It has good food, a nightclub downstairs (last time I checked anyway), a DJ in the main bar, friendly atmosphere and the beer is good.

And if you're after a parma, go to the Cooper Inn in the city on a Tuesday. Massive, massive delicious parmas, and they're only $12.

Terminus in Abbotsford is pretty good, good old fashioned pub. Good night out, going from the Vietnamese places on Victoria Street up to the Terminus.

Local Taphouse is good for serious beer drinking, and has a good, but expensive, bottleshop attached.

Gem Bar in Collingwood has great food, great drinks and a pretty diverse crowd. On Wellington Street.

The Nott is a pretty good suburban pub.

Live music, good beer garden, cheap drinks, uni nights, decent food and NO pokies.

Not a great fan, only redeeming factor in my mind is the Monash girls on Thursday evenings.

Ugh, I can't believe this thread started with someone giving kudos to the Knox Irish Pub.

I went to the newly renovated Bridge Hotel on (surprise surprise) Bridge Road in Richmond last Friday night. Awesome what they've done with the place.

I don't mind Windsor Castle, Pugg Mahones in Hardware Lane can be good at times, Bimbo's/Lucky Coq are great if you consider them pubs, but perhaps the electronic music they give a pounding to counts them out. The Espy is always a bit of fun. I went to Elephant & Wheelbarrow a few weeks ago and didn't really rate it.

Otherwise I usually head for bars rather than pubs or clubs.
