But seriously, the AFCs own media release says that Pykes departure has nothing to do with the review. See the second parapraph:

“with his decision unrelated to the internal and external reviews of the football department which are currently taking place.”

Then not more than three hours later Chapman is on the radio saying the review will finish sooner now that Pyke is gone.

We have it clear as day that our Chairman is blatantly lying to the media as the two statements are completely contradictory.
If they say he it had something to do with the review they open themselves up to criticism that the review ain’t over so how could they make a decisions already and it was just a Pyke witch-hunt, so they lied ......again

Social media updates: nothing from the players

Pretty obvious there's been a gagging order come from the club.

That's what happened when we sacked Sando.

You could be right. But I think it's more likely that Chapman got his words mixed up. He had a really bad day at the office. Like, really bad.

He did (because it wasn’t a termination) but then said something about those discussions are still happening. I think there will be some kind of relatively small severance pay
I agree with this. It would be to cover Pikes costs to relocate. Lets say $100,000. Thats a shit load leass than the potential $1.6m he could have got.

I certainly don’t think he was the problem and I’m sceptical about our ability to recruit a better replacement

My issue was his selection policy but that is almost certainly driven by his contractual targets and other KPI’s
I think your pretty much on the money. I dont think he was the problem but it will be interesting to see what the players comments are over the coming days unless they have all been gagged....but wouldn't that be obvious. If we dont here players wishing him well etc etc then surely the club will again be targetted by us fans asking where have all the players gone.

I heard Brad on the radio, he was pretty complimentary, but i guess he can't really be anything but.

I dont agree Pyke lost the players

I really genuinely hope you are 100% wrong. Otherwise we need to delist or trade the lot of them. Not a single player drafted before 2017 can hold their head up. Almost to a man, every player on on our list played absolutely shit house football. The only remotely acceptable explanation being some kind of mental/emotional reason like disillusionment.

I mean the football that these players played was just terrible. Even our best players. Even players that played well for periods of games were absolutely horrid in others.

I really hope the reason players like Brad Crouch, Matt Crouch, Rory Laird, Daniel Talia, Tom Lynch and Rory Sloane looked disgustingly bad at times this season was purely down to losing faith in the coaches and the game plan. Otherwise we are even more ****ed than I can bear to imagine.

So can someone please reconcile for me the following two things that have been reported today:
1. Pyke stepping down is not related to the review that is in progress
2. Chapman saying on 5AA that now that Pyke has stepped down they expect the review to be completed earlier
See point 2 is complete bullshit.

Listen to the podcast, he says he thought it'd be quick and he still believes it will be.

There is absolutely no truth in the theory that Don out = quick end to review.

Anyone else find it weird that it's Chapman doing nearly all the talking as opposed to Fagan?

He barely let Fagan get a word in during the presser today.

That might be a giveaway as to who the next target of the review is.

Hes our very own Kim Jong.

At 10.05:
“I’m hoping we can conclude it earlier, particularly given Dons decision”

You are talking bullshit mate.

You sure there isn’t a “h” missing from your username? I’ve seen you being a chapman apologist in other threads.

What do you have to say for yourself Cap

Well if nothing else today has proven (to anyone still in doubt) that the problems at the club start with Chapman. He needs to go, now. Not on his own terms, not while handpicking his own replacement, but now. Get the **** out. Plenty of others need to follow, however I'm sure they're all hoping that Pyke's exit will appease everyone. I'm expecting Chapman, Burton and Camporeale to stay and MacKay to get a contract extension. If these things happen my membership is getting immediately cancelled.
