I understand the nature of footy and what one season does to perception but I hope I'm not the only person who isn't writing off Lynch.
Granted he had an ordinary season, I think he is capable of still being quite a serviceable second/third tall forward.
Chris Dawes went from a very good premiership forward to a very sub-standard forward when thrust into the Leigh Brown role, and the same thing seems to have happened to the Q-Stick. I think that we shouldn't under-rate the influence of having to play that specific role, and Collingwood has tried too hard to replicate a Leigh Brown, when it just hasn't been there. You cannot turn some forwards into back up ruckman, pretty simple. It doesn't mean they've become shyte forwards. Being a good tall forward entails confidence and Dawes circa 2012 as well as Lynch 2013; there just was no confidence, and that reflected in their performance. Similiar thing has happened to Trav Cloke at stages of his career.
If Collingwood can allow the Q-Stick to play as a pure forward, he will be, at the very least, serviceable in 2014.
I don't think Pies fans should be writing him off so quickly. Especially since it is only his first season at the club, having to play in a forward set up that was quite terrible from the get go.
