cooparoo and Caloundra biggest threats
Legitimate question, what do you base that on? Neither anywhere near the ability to provide the financial output of Noosa, not that that is the be all end all, but it really really helps! Ive admired what Caloundra have been able to do over last few seasons on the smell of an oily rag but when the whips are seriously cracking didnt have the A graders to get them to the next level and i do hope that they can provide some serious competition to keep interest in this comp.

why not? noosa needs to play someone and those 2 I think will be their main challengers. Never said they would beat them, just said they would challenge them. My understanding is Caloundra have announced every player on their list including the water boys on their Facebook page. The new coach there comes with huge wraps and great pedigree.
The blokes that Coorparoo picked up from Wilston are very very good players which will naturally improve them. Noosa was better then those sides no doubt but both weren’t without their chances to beat them during the season.
Springwood will be in the mix. I don’t think it’s a forgone conclusion that it’s Noosa then daylight.

My prediction now is Noosa will be a lock for one spot in the gf and who they play will be anyones guess. They operate on several levels above anyone else in the comp.

Noosaboy, you guys start short prices favs. Who the challenge coming?
Definitely Caloundra I’m hearing they have picked up some quality.Springwood if they keep page and co will be thereabouts and cooparoo will be big improvers from what we’ve heard. As mentioned in earlier posts we will miss around 10 of our premiership players from last year through travel, retirement or heading back south.Back to back is never easy infact winning one is bloody hard and our boys know that!

Final division one draw out now and on aflq website.Noosa have their pre season camp this week out at boreen point and have locked in 3 praccy matches playing Maroochydore on March 21, Grange on March 28 and Beenleigh on April 4, all at Noosa!

Went out and had a look at the Noosa boys completing their preseason camp at elanda point yesterday.Great spot for a training g camp with our colts heading out there also in a fortnight.Boys in good spirits and definitely earned their mid afternoon beers!

Players paid for the camp fan so I’d assume it doesn’t come under salary cap will certainly make sure though!
That’s true. Anything the club contributes is meant to be claimed. Not sure how it can be proven either way

yeah, my guess would be that tangible costs picked up by the club would have to be counted.

Really rips the heart out of some club traditions. Some clubs might have gone to the same camp for years, had it sponsored etc but the value is high. They also pick up tab for ressies and colts. Or club people who bring in a slab of beer after a big home win etc

all supposed to count. Imagine being the Footy Manager standing in the dressing room door telling a 60 year old life member he can't drop the slab in because the salary cap is on the squeeze!

All sounds well and good but how is it policed? Its not and they cant.

Exactly, it will only be policed is if a complaint has been made or a spot check. But let’s be honest a slab of beer in the middle of the rooms after a win isn’t what the cap is brought in for. Hardly think the league will make an example out of that. Especially when it’s essentially community footy that not many if any players get any sort of payment from

Spot on - people are scare mongering about all this salary cap stuff imo. It was brought in to stop the clubs who pay massive $$ to get a side on the paddock and in turn create lop sided comps (the merits of this can be debated elsewhere I suppose). It was also brought in I imagine to stop clubs from getting ahead of themselves and looking to compete with an affluent club. ie buy success when they possibly cant (but a coach has "demanded" this has to be done).

It will be policed when opposition clubs start asking how there are 6 top end players at one club, all come from outside the junior program, all have been spoken with by various other clubs who have offered good coin but they have all ended up at club X. Club X will be asked to show what they are paying each player etc... Its not perfect but investigations will be instigated based on whispers and innuendo and whistle blowers and piss talk! So be it.

The stuff around the other add ons such as slab of beer, training camps, wont even come into it. Its a non issue. A bloke giving $300 in a brown paper bag to bog will though.
