Freakie, apparently Vista had a SP1 (Service Pack I assume?) released once. Any idea if they included you in the party?

Luckily for everyone this is fixed with Vista SP1 - Phoenix BIOS now builds without modification.

I'm just writing this forum text here so I don't lose it ... it won't mean anything to anybody probably, it doesn't even mean anything to me, yet, but I'll try to decipher it and see if it can help me tweak Qooty into something Vista can handle

I was using a "dir srcpath /OGEN /-P >destpath" DOS shell command from a QuickBasic too, to get a directory listing, exactly like DOS User. But I couldn't get it to work in Windows Vista either.

Simply appending the "cmd /c " string to the beginning of the SHELL command fixed the problem.

Open MENU.BAS (with Notepad)

Scroll down a little, just past the lines of text giving the big "qooty" illustration.

Just after that is :

SHELL "dir *.* /b > temp.tmp"

Concentrate on that SHELL line :

I want you to go to that line, just before the dir, inside the quote.

I want you to type in cmd /c (with a space afterwards)

So the line should now look like :

See the difference?

See it?

Now save the file.

Now run Qooty the usual way (dbl-click Q.BAT)

Tell me if you get the same error, or if it has moved onward to something else ... or even started working.

Freakie are you able to tell me which bitrate of Vista it is?

Windows Vista
If you have Windows Vista, there are two methods to determine whether you are running a 32-bit or a 64-bit version. If one does not work, try the other.
Method 1: View System window in Control Panel

1. Click Start

, type system in the Start Search box, and then click system in the Programs list.
2. The operating system is displayed as follows:
* For a 64-bit version operating system: 64-bit Operating System appears for the System type under System.
* For a 32-bit version operating system: 32-bit Operating System appears for the System type under System.

Method 2: View System Information window

1. Click Start

, type system in the Start Search box, and then click System Information in the Programs list.
2. When System Summary is selected in the navigation pane, the operating system is displayed as follows:
* For a 64-bit version operating system: x64-based PC appears for the System type under Item.
* For a 32-bit version operating system: x86-based PC appears for the System type under Item.

Ok followed your instructions. When I open q.bat it comes up with the "you have newly installed screen preamble". I press a button and the following error comes up:

Program Files Missing (Data\Path)
Qooty needs this to be operable to run.
Press a key to go to Alter Path screen, or (ESC) to quit

Pressing a key does nothing.

Download this (right-click and choose save as or download file or whatver it is) : http://qooty.footypedia.com/MENU.BAS into your Qooty folder, over-write the original one.

Then try again.

go into the Data folder and delete the file called "PATH"

Well that's wonderful news, I made a small adjustment to every instance of a certain command for you.

Now its not all fixed yet, i only made the changes in the menu file, none of the others are fixed yet.

So you'll still get errors if you try to do anything outside the mainmenu.

But we'll get there!

Umm yeah ok that part might be ok ... its probably more the special stats producers ... not all of them will have SHELL commands, but some will. Anyways, go with it and see how far you get :thumbsu:

What exactly do you mean by extraction of commentary? Nice work on working out the other reports though :thumbsu:

I note now Game Time stats, hmm probably a Setup thing.

To access your commentary file, navigate your computer to Qooty > {leaguename} > GAMES ... and look for the MDBDEM10.00C file. Open it with Notepad.

If no file exists, then you didn't set up the Setup screen to save one, I am guessing,
