I really should set the default to saving commentary ... there's not a lot of need to NOT have one filed ... unless if disk space is really low

The whole Setup screen needs fixing. Why the hell did I enable something like "I want to keep a list of Highest 3rd qtr scores, but not highest 2nd qtr ... ???

I expect with the first table, he just went and got the .xxS file from the GAMES subfolder.

The other two tables are created through a specific function :

VIEW RESULTS > Games > {choose league} > {enter} > {up/down until match appears} > {S}

Grr I broke it this morning Mobbs. I did the purge option thingy to delete the league I had created and I noticed alot of files were deleted in the Qooty folder. Opened up Qooty again got the peramble about being new and shit.

Started from scratch again, entered my teams, change the options (so I could create the commentary file) set the config (not sure what that does?). Then started to run the game, goes through all the screens pre game, then the game starts and about 6min in the 1st quarter BANG, back to qbasic with an error (at work ATM so will let you know later).

Yeah Purge SHOULD kill off a lot of files.

Not sure about the error, when you get back there just give me a gist of what it says on the blue screen, preferably a bit which will be higlighted.

Ok night 2 of Operation Vista:

Loaded up Qooty, goes to main menu but underneath the lower border there is 25 "File not found" messages.

When I go to sim the game it comes up with the Bad File name or Number error in qbasic

ahhr geeze ... okay ... err ... you had purged all (which you should only do if you were annoyed with something and wanted to start from scratch) ... so what have you tried to do since then?

Umm tried the saving the new menu.bas file you gave me a few posts ago with no luck..

Hang on. Do i put Shell "dir or Shell "cmd /c dir? Cause it has Shell "cmd /c dir about 8 or 9 times?

eth, is there an error message you have to get rid of before seeing that screen?

if there is, I need to know what the error message says.

If there isn't, press the F5 function key, and see if it resumes.

No error message. F5 does nothing.

The list of players 'overlaps' though, so that when you press down, the names above the player highlighted move up a line, like:

----------------
PLAYER ONE
PLAYER TWO
PLAYER THREE
PLAYER FOUR
PLAYER FIVE
PLAYER SIX

then:

PLAYER ONE
PLAYER TWO
PLAYER THREE
PLAYER FOUR
PLAYER FOUR < this is the player that is really highlighted
PLAYER FIVE
PLAYER SIX

eth, I think it'll be a PATH/FILE ACCESS ERROR, right?

It is actually a frailty with QBASIC where it seems to be a bit slow on executing commands, essentially you're scrolling too fast for it to keep up.

Try scrolling slower, don't hold your finger on the key, just press it repeatedly.

And if the error happens, kill the error (as you have in the example above) with {Esc} and press {F5} to resume.

I'll try to get some research done on what to do about it long-term. I think the commands QBASIC is sending to the computer are being put into a queue with too low a priority, and they're not being executed in time for the next one.

Okay, did you try the F5 idea?

Cause I went and tried it myself, scrolling quickly with finger left on cursor key. I got an error, closed it, pressed F5, and it worked.

I'll just launch Operation Gorrillas (a qbasic classic) as Operation Vista has been terminated. Attempt 2 is under way
