Hey Bryce,
wot went wrong today we just didnt seem to have the same run and tackling as we did last week against geelong? Do u think it was the short break between games?

BRYCE GIBBS: Hi Rhonda and thanks for your question. It wasn’t the short break, I thought our tackling at training during the week was at a high quality and the thing that let us down the most was our turnovers. They really pressured us well and you have to give them credit for that.

Gianfranco - 5:20 PM Sunday, 2 May 2010
Bryce, I thought we put up a great fight today against a well drilled Collingwood team, it does sting a little bit, that we have lost to them. But, do you think we are still on track to play finals footy?

BRYCE GIBBS: Thanks for the question Gianfranco and yes I think we still on track for finals footy this year. we are split at 3 wins and 3 losses after 6 games and are sitting in ninth spot. It’s a long year and we expect to play finals in 2010.

Harry - 6:10 PM Sunday, 2 May 2010
Do you feel Collingwood won because they were more hardened or experienced, or because they are a well drilled machine, and we are not quite at that level yet? They seemed to play really well across the board. We were spasmotic until the opposition put its foot down

BRYCE GIBBS: Thanks for your question Harry. Collingwood are a very drilled and structured side and they stick to their game plan well. Our best footy is good enough to compete with the top sides, I think we showed that last week, we just need to find that consistency and that’s something that I don’t think is too far away.

romesh - 6:11 PM Sunday, 2 May 2010
hi bryce i just want to ask you what went wrong today. We came within 3 points in the 3rd quarter and then we lost by 50

BRYCE GIBBS: Romesh, we probably let ourselves down early by giving them a start, maybe if we could have got our noses in front we could have kept the momentum going. Our turnovers late in the third quarter were really costly and undid all of our hardwork from earlier in that quarter.

James - 6:36 PM Sunday, 2 May 2010
Bryce, the carlton football club at the present time is extremely talented and has a bright future. However we see how the top clubs such as geelong and brisbane are able to finish so strong and 'know how to win' games of football. Do you think carlton has that edge? and if so what would be stopping us from finishin so well?. From my perspective carlton certainly has that ability and now the experience on the list. your thoughts?

BRYCE GIBBS: Yeah, thanks for the questions James, I think in the last couple of years we have been down and have come back to win so it’s not so much finishing strong. It’s once again finding that consistency, we are a young team, in fact I think we were the second youngest team to take the field over the weekend and something like the fourth most inexperienced so I really believe that the more games we play together the more we will understand each other’s games and the better we will get.

Hey Bryce :
with Collingwood being Carlton's rival, do you feel the pressure's more intense and do you personally feel like they are one of the teams you would really want to beat knowing the two clubs clash?
Sarah x x x

BRYCE GIBBS: It’s a massive rivalry isn’t it Sarah, a big build up, big crowd, and it’s always good getting a win over Collingwood. There is a feeling that because it’s a showcase game that everyone is watching and you really want to go harder and play well, we missed them this time but hopefully we will get them later in the year.

Bianca - 7:35 PM Sunday, 2 May 2010
Hi Bryce,
Just wondering why we overuse the handball so much and on the effort we put in today did you think it should of been a 9goal win by the pies?
Thanks

BRYCE GIBBS: I think you have to give credit to Collingwood Bianca, their pressure was good they tackled well and we did overuse the handball. Sometimes a quick kick was needed when the forwards were one on one as it creates a contest in our forward line and that puts their defenders under pressure.

Emma - 8:00 PM Sunday, 2 May 2010
Bryce, why oh why dont we hold on to our tackles?also how come lachie hendo mark in the forward line but can in the backline?
Can we bring back robbo, waite, thorton, robbie please. How is griggy's injury-not to serious i hope.
Any chance of moving aaron joseph more to the midfield even though he has had a couple of tough opponents in the last couple of weeks.
thanks gibblett good luck for rest of season

BRYCE GIBBS: Thanks for the questions Emma, We have really worked on our tackling over the pre season, and I think we have improved massively in this area; it’s something that we continue to work on as it has a huge impact on the game.
Lachie is a talented young player who has only played a handful of games. He draws the best defender most weeks and I don’t think he is too far away from taking 5 or 6 strong contested marks, if he is not marking it he is bringing to ground and that’s just a dangerous with the players at his feet like Betts, Yarran and Jeffy.

I think I few guys will be putting their hands up for selection. The Bullants had a 100 point win and had plenty of good players including Grigga and the guys you mentioned.

Finally AJ is a good young tagger at the minute, there will be times when he is used in the middle.

Great game today even if it was a loss!!! I'm glad you guys made it a great contest even if the result wasn't our way on the scoreboard! Did you think Collingwood was more consistant than Geelong in their intensity or did Carlton just run out of legs after last weeks effort? I thought we were right there with them! We'll get em next time...Go Blueboys XX

BRYCE GIBBS: Thanks Donna, Similar to before, we did a lot of hardwork to get us back into the game but turnovers cost us. We will sit down and look at the tape over the next couple of games and make sure we get it right for St Kilda this week, it’s another big challenge for us.

George Karavelas - 8:39 PM Sunday, 2 May 2010
Champ,
Would you rather play half back or on the ball? How do you rate geelong and collingwood after the last 2 weeks?
ps - will you sign on?
all the best champ

BRYCE GIBBS: Thanks for the questions George, I am happy to play whatever role the team needs whether that’s in the midfield or down back, I think depending on the opposition my role may change, whether that’s back, forward or midfield, I am happy to do that. Geelong and Collingwood have been in the top four over the last few years, if you can challenge them I don’t think you’re too far away

Ps. I love Carlton, and the Club and my management are working through that at the moment.

Will - 9:59 PM Sunday, 2 May 2010
Bryce,
every carlton supporter knows that there is nothing better than beating Collinwood, and after last weeks efforts you would have thought that it was in the bag.
Unfortunately today Collingwood were much better and they completely stopped our run off the backline through the centre of the ground. What difference was there between last week and this week?
Hopefully we can get them back in Round18..
Keep up the good work mate!

BRYCE GIBBS: Let’s hope so Will. We didn’t try to change too much going into this week’s game, they tried to structurally pull us apart and with our turnovers we got caught out at times. It was sad to see Andrew Walker get injured last week because he provided such good run and we probably missed that a little bit.

mikaela - 12:15 AM Monday, 3 May 2010
hi bryce,
my aunty says every week why doesnt anyone run to setanta when he kicks a goal???

BRYCE GIBBS: Hi Mikaela, It something you don’t notice on the ground, maybe it because he gets a tad excited when he get one and celebrates with such passion that I think the boys stay out of his way in case they cop a wayward fist.

"Ps. I love Carlton, and the Club and my management are working through that at the moment"

get it done ffs ! ;)

I really enjoyed reading the questions and answers,
I did read through all the questions supporters sent in, and found a few that I thought wish he'd answered as well. Its a pity only 12 were going to be answered.

i like this idea from the club and Im looking forward to seeing which player will answer the questions about next weeks game.
