Weather will be used as an excuse for tonight's performance but I think we have some very worrying signs in defense and foot skills. I read many comments moaning about our forwards but to me it is our defense that has leaked bursts of goals in all games this year and repeatly missed targets when we move forward. I can probably leave my rant about foot skills for a few more weeks, but defensive selection policy, structure and discipline are sadly lacking. It's to early to point the finger too harshly at the coaching staff but the signs are worrying.

No it's not. Longmire was handed the job on a platter without the proper due dilligence and its clear that he is out of his depth. His team selections alone should be enough to see him given his marching orders

When it was pissin down rain you guys actually looked alright but when it dried up Carlton got on top so i dont see weather as an excuse. Richards and Mattner done pretty well down back that Bevan cost you a couple of goals. Most disappointing player of the match was Goodes, he done sweet fa. Lost count of the amount of times I saw him on the outer of a pack waiting for an easy handpass out. I was disgusted with his weak performance.

Goodes busted his gut and presented constantly just wasn't his night you know nothing about football piss off.

I actually thought a bulk of the defence did a good job. The biggest let down were the likes of O'Keffe and Jetta who failed to put their bodies on the line when it counted.

But let's get this clear. The selection of so many talls on a wet night was just plain stupid. The match committee need to explain what their reasoning was for this because it does not make any sense to me.

What a load of chafe.

Swans definitely looks shaky. Realience too much on Goodes to have a good performance every game.. like Hawks with Buddy...

But you have some injuries (Bradshaw ever comming back?) And LTR is your best backman isn't he? So you have your best fwd and back out atm too..

BTW I lost money 2 times now better on Swans! :(

Right about Jetta, but again, weather wasn't the best, but Harsh on ROK, had to go to Judd when Kizza hirt himself (turning point?) so was nullified by Chudds domination, O'Keefe has the endurance to keep up with, but isn't a tagger...

I'm not trolling just stating that I think Goodes could have done a lot better and gone harder at the contest.
Also you are right about too many talls in hindsight that was probably a mistake, couldn't believe Everitt was the sub that is twice now that the sub has been chosen wrong, the other being when it was Seaby v melb.

Selection was way off the mark with three talls tonight and Jetta. Jetta is too lightly framed for wet weather football (lesson should have been learnt from the game against Geelong). Longmire very slow to react tonight with O'Keefe on Judd and Goodes only went into the midfield in the last four minutes when game was over. O'Keefe seems to be a little lost at the moment. I am not sure where his best position is but he seems to be very much out of form. (This could be magnified by the fact I traded him into my SC team after Round 2 for Kennedy who has killed it ever since :o)

players should of watched the wedding.

Rubbish performance tonight, but we got beaten by a good side who outplayed us, theres plenty of time to turn things around. Its frustrating to lose, but dont think its time to call for longmires head or burn the ground down just yet.

Maybe a bit harsh on RoK but he was definitely shown up by Judd. While he isn't a tagger you have to be competitive. Too many times he was metres behind at stoppages before the ball was bounced a distance that was only extended when Judd was running on to the hit out. Struggles to hold onto a tackle as well.

Just so disappointed with many of the team today, but it's the same wasted opportunities and not being able to put away a side that cost us week in week out.

Also as I said earlier, the match committee must explain their thinking picking so many talls on a wet night.

Two losses in a row at the scg.

When was the last time that happened?

Round 15, 2009
Sydney: 4.2 5.8 7.11 10.12 72
Essendon: 4.6 8.8 12.12 15.17 107

Round 18, 2009
Sydney: 3.4 8.9 8.12 13.15 93
St. Kilda: 4.4 7.8 11.13 13.16.94

we finished 12th that year.

you've been on bigfooty for two years and still have the words apprentice next to your name. That's for your knowledge on football

Goodes didn't have his best night but it was not a lack of effort. He was regularly moving to position. Yes he fumbled, dropped marks, missed goals among other errors and Gibbs downright beat him at times but it was not effort.

Now Fluck off back to your board and join the Sunday jack off session about how your back to premier chance after beating the suns.

i felt during the game he was too busy asking for frees, but i dont think it was his night, couldnt take a clean grab, I agree with you re the talls and the sub choice though

Don't be harsh you bumped into a top 3 side

Seriously, massive overreaction here.

The reason we lost wasn't Jetta, it wasn't our height, it wasn't any fundamental structural problems, it wasn't our ball use. All of these things were better than they've been all season.

Where we lost it was the clearances and contested possessions, or more specifically, Judd. He won that game off his own boot. Take out Judd, and we break even in the midfield. We break even in the midfield, our ball use and conversion, which was BETTER than Carlton's all night, gets us the win.

Given Judd's performance was freakish, I'm not too worried. Losing due to an individual performance is much more palatable than a loss due to systemic weakness.
