the fact they base selection on trust rather then performance is deeply concerning.Maybe he was the best of a poor bunch and they have more trust in Higgins than Narkle...
What may be more telling that Narkle isn't even an emergency
What do you think “trust” means in this context? It’s trust to get the job done.
and thats outdated thinking that is deeply concerning. You base people to get the job done based on how well they are playing now. What do you think “trust” means in this context? It’s trust to get the job done.
In the end, I can't imagine they really trust either of them. But I figure their level of trust in Narkle to contribute when we don't have the ball is even lower than their degree of conviction that Higgins can use it well when he gets it.Maybe he was the best of a poor bunch and they have more trust in Higgins than Narkle...

Can anyone translate this for me?and thats outdated thinking that is deeply concerning. You base people to get the job done based on how well they are playing now.
trust as distinct from current performance explains why higgins gets games cos they are trusting his past performance when he actually was a good player and could get the job done. But he hasnt been able to for a while. Trust as distinct from current performance is misinformed trust. His foot skills have deserted him and he shirks far too many contests. What are they trusting in other then a false belief that his past performance will suddenly magically appear again.
Just run it through the Trump TranslatorCan anyone translate this for me?
I guess he’s just skated through 250 games without doing anything of value.
Or he got older, slower and lost penetration in his legs. Probably also going soft in the contest cos he is protecting himself from other injuries.I guess he’s just skated through 250 games without doing anything of value.

I trust Brad Close and Joel Selwood and that's about it at this stage. In the end, I can't imagine they really trust either of them. To suggest either player is massively trusted at this point is surely a misnomer. And, while we're at it, there has to be very few that the M.C. can truly trust at this point. The wild fluctuations in levels of performance from so many in the senior team each week must drive the coaching staff to distraction. Can't even trust the effort, let alone the output, of a bunch of them from week to week at the moment.
The contrast between Round 1 and Round 2 was stark in that regard. And, yes, I get the opposition last week came with a whole different level of intent than what we'd witnessed first up. For me. that doesn't entirely negate the reality that you can still bring your best intent and effort, irrespective of whether your opponents are up for it or not. Effort is both entirely non-negotiable and absolutely within each individual's control.
I trust the effort of a few others. Atkins, Bews, even Dahl. Maybe not the output. But definitely the effort.I trust Brad Close and Joel Selwood and that's about it at this stage.

Except the ability to hit the side of a barn. And yet still he offers more than Narkle.
