Just wondering noticing alot of people think Warnock will be a walk in start for round 1 next year

IMO he isn't he is a pole a few years older than our ruckman averages less disposals but he does get taps, also I'm not dissing his ability just wondering due to Hampsons shoulders and his body been of an afl ruckman

Do you think he will be a walk in for round 1 season 09?

Will he go on the lance whitnall diet?

your thoughts?

I think he would still have to tick a few boxes before he just lines up for round 1. He would probably not need a massive pre season like some of the battlers like Jake Edwards or Hartlett, but he would just need a few solid performances in the NAB cup and NAB challenge matches. Those would probably get him over the line for round 1.

If he is fit he is a walk up start as No 1 ruck....he will be given the chance to show what he has got

That's what I was thinking. :D

A fit Warnock will start in the team if he has a good pre-season, IMO. Finally, we've got some competition for the Ruck position - Warnock will have to earn the spot.

The guy is 206cm tall if I'm not mistaken the equal 2nd tallest person on an AFL list (Sandilands the tallest), and in being so his height alone should enable him to get a good proportion of tap-outs to our advantage with the right tutelage.

If he's not 100% match fit.. we'll just use him off the bench and for pivotal moments and use cloke/hampson as a more mobile ruckman for the other times, or even Kreuzer.

Surely we can't play 4 ruckmen.

I get the feeling that the club are considering Kreuzer and Cloke to have careers more so as KPP (CHF, CHB) or a tall forward/back option. I think you'll find that Hampson and Warnock will be considered our ruck duo.

Our bench next season will most likely consist of one of Warnock/Hampson, one of Kreuzer/Cloke and two midfielders.

He's recovering from shoulder and ankle ops so he won't be back in full training for a little while yet. Given that he's already had a delayed pre-season I won't pencil him in yet.

like i said last week, he has got 4 weeks until he resumes training, but im if he is fully fit, he will be a walk up start for round 1. .

Who else is 206? Cox is 204 and there are a few 203s around...

He makes Grigga, Bower and to a lesser extent Kreuzer look small!

I've also read that his arms are so long that when he reaches straight up his arms reach as high as Sandilands' do.

If fit he will play round 1 IMO.
Cloke at CHF and Kreuzer on the bench.
Hampson will need a great pre-season for us to consider him for round 1, but depending on how Cloke and Kreuzer go around the ground, and how Warnock goes in the ruck, there may be room for Hampson later in the year.

If that is true....woah!!! yet I don't want to send him in if he is still a string bean he could get killed also if we vs Freo I don't want Sandilands crushing him.

Maybe Dawson Sinpson has hit 206cm

I thought the Hawks young ruckman was the same height (Max Bailey) but just short at 205cm.

Thanks, just checked.

Both Simpson and Bailey are listed at 206 (but do either of them have the same reach as 'Lurch'? :D) :thumbsu:
