Some good analysis starting at 15.47 Best look at our recruits I've heard thus far.

I’m not a huge Hoyne guy but it’s definitely as interesting analysis of us as I’ve seen so far

I’ve said throughout the off-season filling our weakest links with much better role players (Murphy -> ANB, Berry -> Peatling, then adding Cumming’s athleticism) will be a bigger help than we think

After re-watching the game I understand now why NWM didn't get any votes, he turned the ball over a fair few times that directly lead to multiple goals to Adelaide
He was probably their best, but no Saint player should have got coaches votes as we smashed them.

We addressed our needs rather than chasing Lukosius hard who was not a need for us.

Along with Davis & Board changes, been an exceptional good preseason.

Please, PLEASE change your avatar/profile pic?
1) I get distracted by it hoping he'll land a bite
and
2) suddenly, 20 minutes has gone :drunk:.

I can imagine you by the end of those 20 mins 😂

Been a bit of discussion on subbing Tex, keeping Curtin and who gets the credit.

Well Nicks post match comments confirms it wasn’t a strategic decision to give Curtin a full game, it was to manage Tex with a 6 day break.
And what if we needed to sub someone earlier?

They never learn!

Then Tex would have played a whole game?

**** me, you have people here screaming for them to manage Tex, and when they do we still bitch!
Different posters have different opinions. Such is forum. I’ve not been vocal about managing him previously.

My idea of resting Tex is after a few games, and or avoiding long road trips.

The club has elected to rest him after, (checks notes) 3/4 of a game.

In the first round of the season mind you.

Are you or are you not taking the piss about this. With you and your cronies its getting harder and harder to tell.

Not really. I love tex. But he’s slow. TT and fog look cherry ripe. There’s no real spot for Curtin. Turray looks a likely type.

Club has gone from saying they’d manage him last year, then pretty much flogging him, to resting him 3 quarters into the season.

I’d be inclined to play Nank this week instead, gives us more run and flexibility.

Now watch Tex kick 6 on the G.

To me - I think it was far more a case of situational competence rather than a locked in strategy of trying to get Tex off the ground because he needed rest.

Halfway through the 3rd quarter, up by 50 odd. No injuries - it just made sense to get Walker off.

I thought it was between 3 players

Tex, Keays and Curtin

I am glad they went for Tex , wouldnt have minded Keays but may have grumbled about Curtin

The position of the game and the want to see new things meant Tex was the one

It would have been a disaster to sub out a highly talented youngster up by 50 at home if he is healthy.

Now if the game was in the balance and he was playing the way he was - I would have been just fine with it because he was our worst player on the day.

Fair.

I’d love to see him get 300 and a flag. But I think we may have been better off moving on. Time will tell.

The stats in this post about stoppage exits are the closest thing to a major concern out of the St Kilda game.

To be clear, Adelaide "won" this area of the game comfortably.

But the relatively small red area in the graph for St Kilda shows that Adelaide also weren't really able to stop St Kilda doing damage when they won a stoppage. Which has been a Nicks hallmark throughout his tenure.

I think it could be more of an issue against a team like Essendon, who were also strong leaving stoppages.
