What is the actual rule with that? I don't mind blocking from a contest, as it's good team play. But we get told it's a free, and that was a textbook example. Gibson completely blocked Honey from contesting the mark.

Confusing rule.

I figure you can make contact but you can't just completely block their run at the footy. Obviously all teams use the pretending to contest a mark while actually blocking tactic but for mine Gibson's was a fairly obvious prolonged sheperd that stopped Honeychurch getting a run at it should have been a free.
