There are few things that get my goat.

1. When people stand on the wrong side of the escalator. Especially when everyone else is standing on the correct side! can't these people see!!
2. When a person takes longer that 40 seconds to use an ATM. Also I really hate when people check their balance before they make a withdrawal.
3. When an old lady swims really really slowly in the fast lane!
4. When you do something nice on the road and don't get a courtesy wave.

Golly I wouldn't like to be served by you. These peoeple seem to be asking legit questions and you start yelling at them. Ever heard of the customers always right?

Hmmm well maybe it was a "had to be there" situation for you to understand the pressure I was under, the way these customers were talking to me and why I reacted like I did.

Sometimes I do react in the wrong matter, but there are reasons behind that. The problem is, no one takes into account anything going on. They just assume that because it is fast food it is always meant to be fast. So if there are three of you on running the whole store, it is meant to be fast...well sorry, not everything is going to be fast!! I'm just over over expectations and the amount of pressure put on me and my fellow colleagues because people want things NOW!!!

Agree with that one, happened to me the other day as well, I clearly had right of way on this road that had cars parked along the sides with only room for one car at a time, seeing as though I wasn't in a hurry I let this guy go over a speed bump and then past all the cars and then pass me, received no wave, stupid old ****.

Bullshit, this is a myth that has no substance to it. I sincerely hope you are not in agreement with the way that female behaved. If the employee was the first to yell then fair enough, but when you are abused by someone that has not displayed patience nor an ability to understand that people are under pressure by ignorantly yelling, I side with the employee if they choose to reciprocate by putting her in their place.

I highly doubt anyone would get angry without waiting a bit first. That's why people do get angry, because they have to wait! The women was obviously agitated because she had to wait so long for someone to serve her. As someone has also mentioned, why was there only 2 staff working? At stores like maccas etc the customer shouldn't have to wait to be served for more than 30 seconds, unless there's a line.

How about getting more staff on? It's the the customer's fault you're understaffed.

See, that's the problem. I will use Friday night as an example.

I couldn't work (due to uni commitments) so was told earlier in the week that I didn't need to come in. I worked Thursday night and was talking to the manager on and she was saying she was SEVEN CREW down. So I decided to offer her a few hours. No one else wanted to work. So basically it was:

Cashier/Order taker - one
Presenter for drive thru - one
Back area - four
Front counter - two

When you are doing a 1400, 2000, and then a 1700 hour that is clearly not enough staff, but what are you supposed to do? Customers don't give a shit (quite obviously). I mean, I've had a customer scream at me because they had to wait 10 minutes for a $70 order. WTF? I explained to him that sometimes larger orders do take a bit longer...then he got nasty and personal about my weight so I told him to grow a brain (probably a bit too far, but I am over customers commenting on personal things...this is about waiting for food, not other things!!)

Like your anger problems? ;)

I understand that there are difficult customers. Everyone has difficult customers. Some of my clients are absolute *********. I get impatient with them but one thing I never do is raise my voice or be demeaning towards them. You're there providing a service and they are paying you to do so. At no point should you ever yell at a customer unless there is some major event like theft or assault.

Ok, yeah, I may have anger management problems, but until you've experienced the wrath of McDonalds, I doubt you would understand the stress that place places on 15 year olds (I'm not 15 btw, just saying, it is unfair what they do).

And as I said, I will not yell at anyone unless I have been yelled at first.

I haven't worked at a fast food outlet but I did enter the workforce at 15 years old.

The wrath of McDonalds :D working at a fast food outlet has got to be the simpliest of jobs.

And as I said, I will not yell at anyone unless I have been yelled at first.

Generally in life and socially if you get yelled out then yes I agree but doing that in the workforce wont get you far.

HAHAHAHAHAA simpliest of jobs? Thanks for the laugh :)

It would be an easy job if it weren't for the ridiculous expectations, the abuse....

I almost lost it yesterday when I had thoroughly cleaned the dining room (it looked awesome) and a large group of people had left while I was out the back talking to the manager about something. Someone had the nerve to come up and complain about the dining room!!! I went out there with a cloth, and the group that had just left had piled their stuff on their tray onto one table (this isn't what worried me). What worried me was that someone had the nerve to bitch about something so small...it turned out her and her family obviously wanted to sit at this table. You know, coz all the other tables weren't empty or anything....

I'm beginning to think that nursing is going to be so much easier then that hell hole. 8 AND A HALF MONTHS TO GO!!!!!!!!

I don't even work in retail and even I understand that the mere cashier has no control over staffing issues. If I can see that a place is under pressure due to a rush in customers, I have the common sense to understand this concept (it is shocking how so many people do not) and display the fact that my parents taught me about patience as a five year old and wait for my turn in an orderly manner.

True that. However, when I can see some dweebs sitting around not doing anything while I want to order I'm gonna rage.

Umm.. it really is. How many jobs have you had? I guarantee looking back in 20 years time you'll say maccas was the easiest job.

I've worked in aged care, and will safely say this is the hardest out of both of them. At least relatives understand, as do residents.

Every friend of mine who works in Aged Care will add testiment to the difficulties in that industry.

I'd rather serve shit than clean it up....

Ok, maybe I was going a bit far. But I'm the opposite. I'd rather clean up shit then serve it.

On topic of fast food places, I HATE it whenever people leave their rubbish from their meal all over tables. There are bins everywhere! Why can they not take 5 or so steps and put their rubbish in them?
I dont work in fast food, and never have, but I can only imagine how much this annoys the staff.

I once say this family of 4 obese people leave their table, at KFC, with at least 10 boxes of whatever food they had just shoved down their gullet, now sitting on the table. On closer inspection, they were littered with discarded chicken bones, "potato and gravy" pretty much smeared all over the table and the trays, as well as some food on the floor under the table.
The poor girl that was working walked over to it, and you could tell in her face how angry she was.

I rarely go to fast food outlets and when I do it's usually takeaway but the few times I have sat in I always put my rubbish in the bin. Having said that, part of the job of the people who work at fast food outlets is the maintain the cleanliness and overall appearance of the dining area. If someone leaves their rubbish then stiff shit, you pick it up.

Yes, they should pick it up, but if you go to a fast food place when it's busy then the staff can take a few minutes to get around to it (not there fault if busy), so you either wait around for them to do it, looking like a princess or forced to clean up someone else's shit as they were too lazy, so you eat whilst the food is hot or someone else steals your table. Not that I usually bother with fast food, but the few times this has happened and seen people leave it I've felt like getting the rubbish and jamming it in the persons bags/clothes. I think I'll adapt my stopping trolley express lane technique to mock their laziness the next time.

:D:thumbsu:

I was actually going to suggest that - not the video, but the idea.

I worked in fast food from 15 - 18. At the start I thought it was all serious business and got stressed when it was busy, as soon as i realised its just fast food and not life or death then I started not giving a ****.

Enjoyability of the job shot through the roof at that stage and its not like I didn't work hard - I just didn't give a ****.

People sound like prima donnas. Shibz is in the right in all of her scenarios so far.

People need to be able to see the reasons behind problems. If there were two kitchen cooks standing on their mobiles and you hadn't been served your food yet by all means go off your tit but if everyone is obviously working then stfu and wait your turn. World doesn't revolve around you.

I always leave my rubbish on the table to help give a 15-year-old a job. Just doin' my little bit for the future of the nation.

Uploading a large video to YouTube, and after two or three hours and about 80% done finding it has "failed due to an unknown error".
