I like many others am far from happy with the position we, the RFC, find ourselves in yet again. I watched yesterdays game on TV and at 1/4 time was very happy, not so much with the lead, it should have been a lot more considering the dominance, but with both the efforts and the endevour shown by all. Then what, did they all have a dose of Ritolen at the break to calm them down, it worked, what a drab disgraceful effort for the rest of the day. Same old story, many MIA, general lack of skill, missing targets, playing way too short, I realise the very good sides can do this but not us at this stage. This all leads me to the point of the post which is to make mention of the good efforts of Rance. The guy looks like he wants to play and like he knows what to do naturally. I recall one play in particular, I think it was in the 3rd 1/4 when he took posession around centre half back looked dodged baulked ran hard and then handballed 20 metres, not this 1-3 foot dangerous crap that I was indicating earlier, this resulted in a long kick which I think went to Schultz, who went over the top to White for an easy goal. This is the style I want to see us play, for now at least.

So congratulations Rance only 18 and it's natural, fantastic.

Yer saw Rance arch the back and run hard very lucky to have him at Tigerland a keeper for sure should be in the side for the rest of the season(barring injuries).

I was impressed with his dash and run up the ground on Monday, one of the few possitives on the dark day:thumbsu:

Close to 40 disposals over his first two games at arround 70% efficiency:thumbsu:

Better still I subbed him in when Raines got injured in my Super Coach side, Raines might find it hard to break back in:D

Well done to Rance, keep improving, and you will be a real asset to our club:thumbsu:

Not only was I impressed with his run and carry etc for his size (awesome) but his attack on the footy and fearless attitude. Seems to love the physicality which apart from McGuane we lack. I really like him and can see a natural leader in the making.

Could be our version of Tom harley, just a harder runner. Now that would be awesome. Just my opinion.

He has such desperation the game was long gone and almost over and he still managed to sprint as hard as he good to make a spoil, has real ticker. Definately a keeper

rance looks real good, fumbled a bit. but the good out wrestle the bad.

Yeah his skills weren't fantastic (didn''t see the Geelong game so can't comment) but he has a sense of desperation about him not found too commonly around the RFC.

Also how ripped is he? Much more developed than most footballers in their second year :thumbsu:

Very impressive first 2 games. Yeah he turned it over a bit against the Dogs, but he is a 2nd gamer and can be forgiven.

My only concern is how safe his spot is in the side. He has the build to play all season and had a full year at Coburg last year.

However where does he stand in the list of medium/small defenders.

Considering we have Thursfield, McMahon and Raines out of the side at the moment, will he hold his spot when Raines returns or if the other 2 blokes find some form?

My guess is McMahon will make his way back in for King, but will Rance get a game over Thursfield & Raines?

Is Rance purely a defender or could you see him spending time in the middle/wing?

thursfield could take kings spot, then moore or thursty play on a small/medium. and have polo and newman and a couple others to get some run out of the backline.

Put him at Full forward... at least he'll provide a contest and forward pressure unlike Schultz... u could rotate him with Richo on the wing...

For the record, if we didn't get Jarrod Grant at no 5, we would have taken Rance instead. Clayton rated him a top 10 certainty. He was a little disappointed when you took him at 18, a pick before us at 19.
