I don't get how people say we lack depth? Have you seen the players who are playing for our reserves?

Chance Bateman- very experienced premiership player
Cameron Bruce- very experienced
Kyle Cheney- has played very well win given the chance at the top level
Xavier Ellis- was one of our best players in the '08 flag
Clinton Young- very good player when up and running. Have you seen his left foot?
Tom Murphy- solid and mature backman who captained us last year when others were out
Jack Gunston- very classy player
Bradley Hill- brother of Stephen, very fast young player
Stephen Gilham- premiership fullback, very reliable

You can certainly question us for other things, but how can you say 'they lack the depth to win a premiership' when all these players are in the 2's?

What I meant by lack of depth was that rely heavily on a few players, they don't fire, and the Hawks struggle.

This is a creepy photo I took at school camp last week of an eery farm graveyard...

Let him have it, it's the best thing he'll see the Knicks do in his lifetime. ;)

This far it has been :(

You'll see, next few years, Lin gets healthy, find another PF and the title is ours!

Or we could steal a number 1 draft pick and a star PF to put alongside Melo and still not win a title ;)

You’ll never win a title while there are fire extinguishers on the prowl.

Going to draft a fire extinguisher PF?

I was thinking more of a 'sign Bosh' approach would be acceptable.

The question wasn't about whether they were best 22 players, it was about our depth.

If you can't rely on these players to come into the AFL team when required and do a job, then they're not depth players; they're list-cloggers. And most neutrals (and most Hawthorn supporters, for that matter) would regard Bruce, Bateman, Murphy and Ellis (at least) as the latter. Plus, if Gilham is so good, why is Clarkson letting Schoenmakers get his pants pulled down week after week by any good key forward?

As for 'exciting prospects', well that's nice. You could probably include every draftee who is yet to get a game for Hawthorn in that group.

In short, Knicks, should be a hell of a lot better with their players.

Heat, should never lose a game.

Lakers, are past their time but still have a 3-1 lead.

What does that tell you?

And we can rely on them. Although, I never claimed Bruce and Bateman as some sort of valuable commodity in playing terms. I said they were past their best but their experience can be valuable in a team sense. Murphy is a good one percenter and stopper but he is not best 22 anymore, so it's nice to know you have that depth there.

Gilham has been coming off an injury in the summer and has just started getting his form back with Box Hill, has been in their best the last couple games. He should be back in the next few weeks for Hawthorn, in fact there was an article in the paper today regarding whether he may come back this week to give us a boost without Gibson, or whether we'll give him another couple weeks.

You obviously haven't watched too many Hawthorn games this year if you think Schoey got his 'pants pulled down' every week. Has been very impressive this year, was one of our best against Sydney and while he wasn't too much chop against Geelong, he wasn't the only one. He didn't have his best game on the weekend but he did limit Roo to just three goals, which certainly isn't terrible.

But anyway, you and I both have different opinions. Nothing's going to change that.

No competition in the West.
