the other side to this is a majority population of religious people who would’ve seen the horror unfold, disagreed with it and will now be targeted/marginalised because of it.

That’s true as well. I do feel sorry for them. Are there other religions that get that level of fanaticism? Cristians do some weird shit that’s for sure. I’ve never read any religious literature tbh. My kids go to Catholic school and the mrs has banned from participating in any religious studies because I just can’t help but point out how ridiculous it is.

It’s not surprising that France is cracking down on extremists. That’s so mental.

France ... the daughter of the church ... has been fighting Islam for 1300 years.

The battle ebbs and flows, but it never ends.

Probably a better way of handling it, than outright removing it. Dumbo certainly had some racist elements to it.

For a nation fighting against Islam they certainly let a lot move there.

Blowback of colonisation.

They also needed to rebuild a fair bit of the country post 1945

There is a train of thought that the battle is over-played. Both in how serious the 'invasion' was, how the force was also at the end of a long logistcs line, and not particularity well manned.

Yeah, similar to how the Mongol "attacks" into eastern Europe were really only ever reconnaissance in force, rather than actual invasion.

Market really is speaking now.

In a commanding tone.
indeed, there is also a little bit of brinksmanship happening, as one station closes there is a bump in the off peak wholesale price as there is a timeframe for renewables to bridge the generating shortfall, so in effect its like a poker run seeing who folds each time.

Also Yallourn made a strategic decision to scuttle their bucketwheel dredgers in the mine a while back because they didnt maintain them to the point that they pretty much rusted to the point of becoming structurally inadequate. They replaced them with a system of huge bulldozers pushing coal onto a loading hopper which requires more people to operate and huge diesel bills ( the dredgers were electrically driven, a product they generate cheaply at the adjacent power station). this operation puts them at an operating disadvantage to other sites that still dig coal by dredger.

at least in their defense they are informing the staff with a fair amount of time rather than what hazelwood did with 6 months notice.

Same with the overhyped Mamluk victory over smaller Mongol forces.

After November in Glasgow, rules of the game will change.
